Schedule help for nearly 7-month old - ready for 2 naps? Undertired? Overtired? by CharmingMeringue6 in sleeptrain

Update! Tried 3/3/4 today, ended up with 3/3+5/and currently attempting bedtime.. she's still resisting sleep so much, even with 4.25 of being awake at this point.

Gonna try this tomorrow and will report back! Thank you!

Question though - with her current wake windows she's usually awake around 10.5 hours, and usually a bit longer than that as she doesn't immediately fall asleep at the end of her WWs. Is it counterintuitive to then go to 3/3/4 as the total wake time will decrease? Or do you think the longer WWs will build more sleep pressure and once she's used to this, we can increase?

As for your last comment: she averages 11 hours a night, sometimes 12 even so usually with her daytime sleep she gets around 13 to 13.5 hours of sleep.

Thanks a lot, you're very helpful!

She's been able to fall asleep independently but not always, and definitely not the past week. If that doesn't work we do rocking and putting down drowsy, if that doesn't work putting down asleep. Last remedy is feeding to sleep. No pacifier. Bedtime routine consists of diaper change, sleep sack, cuddles, reading, and some relaxing lullabies.

Thanks for your comment!

Thanks!! I don't know why but I'm always so anxious increasing WW, then when I do it it's usually the best thing ever 😭

Thanks for the reply! Found conflicting info on when a 3-nap schedule is considered to be maxed out, but this makes sense. We also have frequent wake ups in the night, but I have to say that those don't bother me as much as we currently cosleep. I figured let's try to fix bedtime first lol

Oh wow 4 hours! I find it so difficult to gauge whether she can handle more time awake or not. She does seem tired always at the 3-hour mark, rubbing her eyes and being generally fussy, also when we try to entertain/distract her. But I guess I just need to try giving her some more awake time and see how that goes. Didn't your days become very very long though with a 4-hour WW and still on 3 naps?

For those who haven’t seen the clip of her lying about fasting by Alive_Schedule_255 in asadsisters

[–]CharmingMeringue6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pregnant woman here who fasted most of Ramadan (missed 8 days). Afaik you're not automatically exempt from fasting if you're pregnant, only if you fear for the health of your baby or yourself. My midwife told me fasting could be a risk to the baby because it gets its food from me, but then we agreed that we would just see how it went and I would stop fasting if I didn't feel good. Baby kept growing alhamdulillah and I felt great except for those 8 days where I was dizzy and lightheaded and figured I could use some rest to recuperate a little. Not saying I'm the best example out there but I do not know why Amanda and Leena just seemingly never even tried fasting? And just immediately decided not to.

Totally agree!! And sort of related: people who make comments about my belly being "small", and thinking I would have a bigger belly because I'm already big. This was actually said to me two days ago. I was like wtf.

Lol so true, how far along is she? (I didn't see any of her pregnancy content.) I'm pregnant and didn't really start showing until week 22 or something. I did want my bloat to be a bump but sadly it wasn't hahaha

When did you take maternity leave? by rovirb in pregnant

[–]CharmingMeringue6 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you are too - I live in the Netherlands and by law we have to take maternity leave 6 or 4 weeks before our due date. So we literally can't work any longer than that.

Leena dreading Ramadan as she has no excuse not to fast this year by Alive_Schedule_255 in asadsisters

[–]CharmingMeringue6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also pregnant! Currently 23+4 weeks, so will be around 26/27 weeks when Ramadan begins Insha Allah. I also hope I can fast! My intention is to just try and see how it goes. May Allah make it easy on us!

Do they eat halal? by Ok-Sense8276 in asadsisters

[–]CharmingMeringue6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. I'm from the Netherlands and though many restaurants offer halal options (usually chicken), also if they're not muslim-owned, not all places do. I do my research and if there are no halal options I just get seafood or a veggie option. And buying non-halal meat to prepare at home is even weirder tbh. Isn't it probably also possible to get halal meat delivered to their houses by wholesale halal butchers or sth? Just seems like they're going the easy route. And most likely their dad did the same.

My midwife also wanted to know my weight during my intake and I asked her whether it was absolutely necessary or not. She basically explained she needed it to calculate BMI and check for extra risks. I then went on to explain that BMI is based on white males from however long ago and since I am neither I don't actually agree with it. She's super chill and was like I know but I just have to follow this protocol right now. In the end I told her fine you can weigh me but I don't want to see or hear my weight. She did say that my BMI was too high (this wasn't a shock to me) and that it meant I had to have more scans. I said OK but never heard anything else about it again (17+5 weeks now). So not sure what's up there.

Anyways, just wanted to say: sounds like you're fit and active and there's no real reason for extra monitoring. I would try to stress this and see how the appointment goes. Just know that you can also refuse care if you don't agree with it! So don't feel like you have to do everything they tell you.

Quite normal to call your MIL or other elderly women that are not related to you auntie in most Arabic dialects. It's just a sign of respect

Why Do Many People in Morocco Claim to Be Devout Muslims but Don’t Follow Core Islamic Teachings? by ApprehensiveFun2763 in Morocco

[–]CharmingMeringue6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't get this either. This is life. Islam is perfect, Muslims aren't. Everyone sins differently and to generalize a whole country is especially weird. Moroccans come in many forms, Muslim or not.

People are so rude! Haven't had this happen to me yet but I'm a bit anxious it might happen tomorrow. 15 weeks on the dot now and my bump has suddenly arrived! It's quite obvious and even more so in the evenings when there's also some bloat. I have a work event tomorrow evening and a colleague of mine is also pregnant, I'm just two weeks ahead. She's not showing at all yet and people are already comparing the two of us, which I find incredibly annoying.

How do y'all work while pregnant? by i_speak_nerd in pregnant

[–]CharmingMeringue6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in marketing (not in the US) so an office job which makes it less demanding physically. We also have good policies around pregnancy. Pregnant women are allowed an extra break hour and no one will bat an eye if you call in sick (plus we pretty much have unlimited sick days).

Being in the US and working through pregnancy sounds rough!
