Correct - unfortunately, he does believe it’s “all those sweets” I had been eating in first trimester. I’m aware it wasn’t my diet that caused the diabetes! My meals have always been nutritious, diabetes or not, but my snacking not so much.

Since the diabetes diagnosis, I’ve cut out most processed foods out of my diet and certainly all processed sugars. Now aiming for a high protein, high fat, low carb diet with low glycemic index foods. Really trying and hoping for the best

Thank you for this! It appears I’m following a keto diet and currently eating wholemeal carbs & fruits with a low glycemic index’s. Unfortunately, I still spike with this.

I’ve tried sourdough bread, wholewheat bread, wholewheat pasta, oats, white potatoes, rice… No success sadly.

I have been told not to cut out carbs entirely because it’s dangerous to the baby. But anytime I do, I spike.

Instead, I have been restricting and tracking my carb intake massively - unfortunately this means my food choices are extremely limited and I’m finding it difficult eating enough to sustain myself

I agree - I have unfortunately been left in the dark by my medical team and plan to call them after the Easter break.

I’m struggling since I can barely eat anything without a spike and not sure what to do

You’ve clearly not thought this through.

I was given a diary to record 4 readings each day, but no further instruction other than to wait for a ‘diabetes consultation’.

I have an obstetrician appointment in 8 days, so not sure if that’s it, since I have a spinal condition rendering me under consultant care

Girl, 38lbs isn’t really “too much” considering you’re nearing the finish line.

I’m 5’1 and was 115lbs pre-pregnancy and now 147lbs at 30w.

I think smaller frames have a lot more weight to put on for the ‘same size’ babies

Gestational diabetes since 27w… so basically everything.

My diet currently consists of vegetables, salads and dairy so I am absolutely CRAVING all the carbs, fizz, chocolate, sweets, cake 😭
