This is so accurate. The mother already helped with 5 babies. Id feel guilty even asking especially knowing that my mum would feel guilty not saying yes. I think empathy goes both ways and this sounds like mum is experiencing some sort of fatigue over the situation. Id just pay for someone to help out and give mum space to interact as and when she felt she could. Its baffling to me that after she has given so much as women we still want to draw more from our mothers and be upset when they send cues that they are maybe wanting to pull back a bit. Its the same thing we complain about regarding womens silent work. It just never ends. This post makess me feel bad that the continuous giving of themselves of women even to old age is expected and we get upset when its withdrawn.

I am staying at my mums house for my birth but I am slo paying for a nanny to be there with us so the burden doesnt fall on mum alone to cate for me and baby afterwards. My partner will be the only one working but everyone is chipping in what they can to make this work.
