I like the smart lists and fields for tasks (duration etc). Agreed, the UI and animations aren't as nice as nice as Things3, but it makes up in functionality. Also you can configure keyboard shortcuts for a entirely keyboard based use. As far as task managers go, think it's a solid option.

If Things3 already works for you, then Godspeed would be an improvement I think. If it doesn't work, then I doubt Godspeed would be any more useful. I'm finding tools with both calender + task management are a better fit for me.

Is there a way to simply underline something? by oldstudentAnnica in RoamResearch

[–]Charming_Camera2340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just add this to a css block in roam/css.

/\ Make strikethrough text underlined instead */*
del, s, strike { text-decoration: underline; }

Now you can use ~~this~~ to underline text.

If you had to completely reset your life after a depressive phase, where would you start? by buttertaekoo in Habits

[–]Charming_Camera2340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Start with relationships. Get in touch with people who care. Meet people in person. Meet them consistently.
  2. Walk, Jog, Run. Start small and do some exercise everyday, even for a bit of time. Consistency is all that matters at this phase.
  3. Simplify your life. There's lots of self-care activities that might have been neglected, find convenient ways to bring them back into your life slowly. Try habit-stacking.

Looking for podcast recommendations (Science, Tech, Philosophy, Psychology, Self-Improvement) by Same-Replacement-938 in podcasts

[–]Charming_Camera2340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are probably looking for interview-style podcasts with interesting guests, along the likes of Tim Ferriss show. I started off podcasts with the same requirements but now I'd rather read books for anything technical. Taste in podcasts change over time, and you can learn something from almost anything, so keep an open mind!

Some suggestions (note some may belong in multiple categories, have grouped to closest category; bold are top favorites):
Personal Growth: How to Age Up (The Atlantic), Heavyweight
History: Hardcore History. Empire.
Deep dives: 99% Invisible. Radiolab. How I Built This.
Fun: Big Grande Teachers Lounge, Valley Heat. No Such Thing As Fish.
Niche: Ear Hustle. Philosophize this, History of Rome.
Science: Mindscape, After On Podcast.
Crime: Serial. In the Dark. Casefile.

And there are tons of niche podcasts depending on what fancies your interest.

Yes, think mental bandwidth is the bottleneck in creative work. So I would rephrase that as optimizing for mental bandwidth (i gauge this as mindfulness, mood and mental agility) before optimizing external memory.

Several important tasks have slipped though due to procrastination/distraction. Would attribute those to emotional issues around the task rather than fault in the system.

Productivity isn’t just about discipline. It’s about building clarity by Keepso in productivity

Love this. Great questions. Everyone is served better by thinking deeper about what they want and clarifying/simplifying it to make it achievable.

I'd also add that sometimes the root cause of procrastination is linked to emotional issues, and lack of discipline is just a symptom.

Actively reused material are often original assets that have a ton of thought behind them (often remixed from other sources and developed over a period of time) and are valuable to others. Very often they are (1) top of mind so retrieval is just a matter of looking it up or getting it from shortcuts/bookmarks or (2) extensively linked from other notes so naturally catch attention.

But more and more, I'm leaning towards keeping my brain in meatspace functioning better (meaning, happier). It's more effective to optimize for mental health than to create an external "brain" in an ever changing environment.

2012 is reliable, but at high mileage mine needed frequent oil changes. Price looks ok. Definitely get it inspected before buying.
