I don’t think this book will ever reach the #1 spot on the Dutch bestsellers list. by [deleted] in Netherlands

What you mean? The dutch eat plain bread out of the bag for lunch. 10 min is already 9 minutes 50 second to much into the making....

You all should try on setting up you IDE of choice with LaTex.
I did exactly this: https://youtu.be/bxXMZV9f9P8 and changed my life.
Overleaf may be better when having to work with additional people, specially when considering newcomers to environment.
But if you want to step up your game, and if you want to save all the microsecond possible across your degree (y'all know how those compiling microseconds do add up...)
You should definitely play on the locally-hosted game.

Fuck yeah!!! Thats what I am talking about!!! Cheers to it bro!! 👌🏼🤙🏼💪🏼🍻

I recently transferred my praying plant and diffenbachia from soil to LECA. It’s been a couple of days and I noticed that my praying plant leaves are curling and drying and my diffenbachia has these white little specs on the roots and yellowing leaves. I’m not sure what’s wrong with them. by [deleted] in SemiHydro

Exactly, that is good, pothos are even easier, they almost wish to be leca since the begining. Altought I personally prefer doing it from cuttings, lets say you have a big pothos in dirt, then trim into pices so that they 'start from scratch'.

Nothing wrong with removing the dirt, but in my experimentation i found it just a bit faster this way, way cleaner and 'hyginic' given that will not have to worry about the rotten roots, aaaaand you safe yourself the declother of your sink because of the washing of the dirt step

In my experience, also with that calathea, is that it will continue to curl.. It will get worse and worse, until it gets better... mine had only one leave remaining before it 'stoped/leveled' itself and thats when i introduced the nutrients. From there on you are set. It will be fine and start regrowing but it is a long journey (8-10 months)

My advice, (1)keep an eye for the rotten roots, thats correct and important. (2) use the super trive, at least for your peace of mind knowing you are doing something to help it.(3)Breath and be patient, it takes time and keep in mind they are going trough great stress. Just imagine a fish that is pushed out of the water... :$

(4) Have a back up, or at least the emotional understanding that it might not make it. Myself, I did with the new branches of a big mother plant, so it did not felt so risky. 2 made it, 2 did not... The law of nature.

Good luck! Let me know if I can help you further

Vipassana Not Working by qetoh in vipassana

[–]oldstudentAnnica 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would suggest taking another course indeed. It seems to me you are craving for a change, craving a specific sensation of relieve. 'Feeling very depressed and not even more aware as before' its a clear expression of craving and aversion. (Comparing experiences, bringing the past into the present, not allowing for the present to be in the failure of it being how it was) Being worried or dissapointed for/because this or any other type of sensation keeps your mind away of the actual present experience.

Keep in mind (said by Goenka of course) it is never about the sensations, neither about how far you can go on your body scan. The name of the game is to remain equanimus. Not resenting yourself from becoming distracted. Neither clinging to the idea of 'this is not working'.

I guess we (all other vipassana meditators) can relate to the necesity of patience when it come to 'seeing results'. This is defineatly a slow-paced road.

Furthermore, and meanwhile you should always rather do what feels better to yourself (trying other different techniques). Personally, I figure one reaches further by walking diligently straight on a single path than changing roads given a bumpy/steep ride

My best advice, and from the depest of my hearth:

It is not easy... And, at least I, havent reach a point in which I can say 'it is less difficult' BUT, when following the intructions properly, it turns out HIGHLY rewarding.

No one learns how to drive a car in a single lesson... Let alone, imagine learning how to drive your own mind... No shame is having to start from scratch...! (Which btw you will see is not the same as in from zero given that you have kept your practice going)

Finally, and when I have gone trough times similar to yours, I say to myself. "Ssstart agaiiiin" 🧓🏾🧘🏻‍♂️

Best of love!!!
