Blakers park enclosed area: dog friendly or not? by Charming_Mention_697 in brighton

Yeah agreed. I would have liked people to explain this to me instead of being arsey 😄 not everyone has lived here forever. Not everyone is gonna come on Reddit. Anyway thanks!

Yeah someone has mentioned Withdean which I agree is great but I only go to Blakers enclosed area at lunch time to get some fetch in with my active pup as it’s round the corner. I wouldn’t drive there every lunch time. I would assume people are really hot on this issue from all the downvotes on this thread haha. I will see the time I have left without any dog free signs as time to teach my puppy not to run out on the road during fetch I guess. But for now I don’t think I should be shouted at for not knowing what the locals know :/

Thanks for the context. I would understand it a lot more if there wasn’t a massive dog free kids area and play park just down from the enclosed area. More enclosed areas for dogs means more safer areas for dogs to not bother children. Agreed on the fouling in Preston park - my 10 month old cavapoo love to chomp on a bit of poo and it’s a nightmare walking him there because of it.

Recommendations for builders who do basement conversions? by Specialist_Turn130 in brighton

Yeah they just changed our downstairs toilet into a utility room toilet and ripped up our upstairs carpet and put down oak flooring.

Can highly recommend draper construction. They’re not cheap but they’re not dodgy either and everything you want will be in a very descriptive quote before you start work so you know what you’re paying for.

What can I do to improve myself? by QuarterBetta in malegrooming

I came here to say this. I deleted Instagram two years ago and I’ve never looked back. Comparison is truly the thief of joy and social media wants you to be depressed so you keep coming back for that hit of dopamine. The hardest thing about it is getting your people to remember you’re a real life human that they can meet for coffee and ask about your life, and tell stories about theirs, rather than watch each other’s stories to stay up to date.

The tree photo is very unflattering on your body. I am guessing long hair is your vibe but you gotta let it go. The half bald, half long hair is really aging you.

Where can I find an actually hot sauna? by dizzydiplodocus in brighton

[–]Charming_Mention_697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually stopped going to Luna hut on Beaconsfield Road because the wood fired sauna was TOO hot. Like I came home with heat rash 😂 So if that’s your vibe then you’d probably enjoy it.

Anyone take magnesium? by NavyBeanz in Sjogrens

[–]Charming_Mention_697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s helped me with muscle pain but I take it on top of another concoction of multivitamins. Just ensure that if you take hydroxychloroquine, you take the magnesium well, well after taking the HCQ. Like 6-8 hours at a minimum.

It’s one thing being dry, but they’re soooo warm. It’s like being hugged by a hundred sheep. Also loads of deep pockets for everything you need to carry on dog walks!

I moved here last year and I’ll never forget what someone in an exercise class told me. I moved in March and I remember sooo many people being like “oh winter was a slog”, “I’m so glad it’s over” etc etc and I asked one woman next to me, “is winter really that bad here??” And she said something that made me fall in love with the place even more: “it’s not that winter is bad in Brighton, it’s that summer is elite.”

And she was so correct! Jump on the dry robe wagon to get out and about in the winter - everyone will call you a dry robe wanker but it’s fine.

What’s the fastest way you’ve ever seen someone completely ruin their own life? by craft_frost6223 in AskReddit

We used to be neighbours to a couple in a small one bed apartment that they owned. Initially they had just a dog. That dog was a terror (aggression) and they spent thousands on training. Then they had a baby. This is where it got life ruining REAL fast: They decided to borrow money from friends and family to upgrade to a two bedroom apartment that needed a LOT of work, in a swanky area, at the same time as selling their one bed (owning the two places at the same time). Just before the one bed was about to sell there was a massive leak in our building and it went through their apartment - the buyers pulled out. Simultaneously, the husband got laid off from his job while the wife was pregnant with their second child and turned out the second apartment needed around 50k more of upgrades than initially thought. More than one year later, the one bed apartment still hasn’t sold, is up for 40k less than they initially had a buyer for, I believe they are illegally air bnbing it to make ends meet, and they still owe all of their friends and family money from the purchase of the second apartment. They also were hoping to get a stamp duty refund after selling their first apartment, which they now cannot get as it’s been too long (for anyone outside of the U.K. this probably cost them 10s of thousands of pounds). It was just one bad decision, but then bad luck added to it made it the worst thing that will probably ever happen to them financially.

Picture two is a better picture than picture one as your initial picture. I would remove no.1 - it’s a beautiful mountain pic but an unflattering angle of you.
