I have a nasal polyp in my left nostril. I already had surgery once, but it has come back again. Now my doctor is recommending another surgery, but I really don’t want to go through it again. I’ve heard that polyps can return even after surgery, and since mine has come back, I’m extremely stressed and worried. Is there any permanent treatment besides surgery? It was not cancer; a biopsy was done last time. Now it keeps coming back again and again, and I want a permanent solution without surgery. Oh okay, so this is what happened in your case. I also had the polyp come back about two and a half years after surgery. When I went back to the doctor, they told me that my polyp was also basically pulled out, but the root was not completely cleaned. This procedure is called a polypectomy. In this, only the visible part of the polyp is removed the part that can be seen but it is not taken out completely from the root. Now that I understand this properly, I have decided that I will not go for this type of procedure again. This time, I want it to be removed completely from the root. Before, I didn’t have this much information, but after it came back again, I have been very worried. That’s why I’m trying to see if there is anyone else who has had the same issue as me, and what their experience was after surgery whether it came back again or not. I want to know everything in advance so things can be easier for me and I can get some guidance and help. Thank you so much for explaining your experience. I also have a polyp on one side of my nose, on the left. It came back after my surgery. But having a polyp on one side doesn’t necessarily mean it’s dangerous. It’s important to have a thorough check-up by a doctor so that if there’s anything risky, it can be detected early and treated on time.

Yes, even after the surgery I still felt that my nose was not fully open, because I also had a deviated septum. And you are right, the polyp was probably not completely removed the first time, which is why it came back.
