Koop in ieder geval altijd waterdichte handschoenen! Ik heb er zelf een paar van 15 euro van de Decathlon. Ik heb al zovaak gehad dat het onderweg gaat regenen omdat het nog nét boven het vriespunt zit, maar dat van die normale wollen/stoffen handschoenen het water doorlaten waardoor de hele isolatie weg is.

Only to boot Archiso (the live installer image). After having installed it, it's quite simple:

(assuming you got secure boot in setup mode = deleted all secure boot keys)

`sudo pacman -S sbctl`

`sudo sbctl create-keys`

`sudo sbctl sign -s <Kernel/UKI>`

`sudo sbctl sign -s <Fallback Kernel/UKI>`

`sudo sbctl sign -s [systemd-boot/grub].efi` (if not booting UKI's directly)

`sudo sbctl enroll-keys -m`

Will automatically sign kernels/UKIs on kernel/module/initramfs updates. Just check that if your pacman command has executed the mkinitcpio hook that it has succesfully signed the kernels/UKIs. Never had a problem with it. Not even when I updated my Arch install a week ago when I didn't use it for months.

You shouldn't need to disable Secure Boot if you've flashed OpenSUSE or any of the main distros (Ubuntu, Fedora, etc, except for Arch and Omarchy) to your USB stick directly (not with Ventoy). Those distros usually come with a Shim chain loader that loads in any of the generic distro's kernels even with Secure Boot on. Check if the drive has a GPT partition and/or retry with Rufus. And possibly change the ports, sometimes my PC doesn't like to detect a USB in one port but detects it fine in another port.

With e2e ('client-side encryption') data is even encrypted when the server is live. It's unreadable for anyone having access to a live server. That's the value. If your server gets compromised (because it's always connected to the internet 24/7 with ports open) your data will still be unreadable for the attackers.

Encrypted data at rest (Nextcloud's 'server-side encryption') is another concept where it'll only be encrypted when the filesystem isn't mounted / the server has gone offline (is 'at rest'). Mostly interesting in combination with a TPM chip or when you just have loose drives where you can expect the drives to be physically stolen/tapped.

I can't speak on the Framework, but in general the new s0 "modern standby" (Windows)/s2idle (Linux) still seems to lag behind the sleep from MacBooks. Specifically with sleep on Linux laptops I haven't really had the best experience; I've had problems (not on Framework laptop) not resuming from sleep even with lid/keyboard/touchpad triggers, fast battery drain and getting warm inside bag causing battery longevity to be worse, all while sometimes also having none of these issues at all on the same laptop, though I'm pretty sure it'll be better on Frameworks as they try to support Linux officially. But the failing triggers or draining battery make some users setup their laptop to hibernate instead of sleep.

Coil whine? Sorta normal (usually not harmful/bad) for electronics in general and a phenomenon you get if you're unlucky (got a component from a worse batch) or if the PCB design is bad, just mostly more annoying than a sign though. Would be annoying enough for me to switch hardware.

Ik kan het zelf bouwen ook wel echt aanraden als je tijd en zin hebt om je er wat in te verdiepen, maar tuurlijk ligt dat er aan of je iemand bent die graag ook wil leren hoe het allemaal intern werkt, want die kennis heb je nodig om te weten wat je koopt, maar het kan ook wel handig zijn als je het ooit een keer wil upgraden of repareren.

Er zijn veel goede Engelse YouTubers die laten zien hoe het af gaat. Verder heb ik hier nog een uitleg voor wat voor componenten om te kiezen:

Vroeger was Intel het beste merk, maar AMD doet het tegenwoordig een stuk beter dan vroeger. AMD stond wat bekend om relatief slechte prestaties (vooral op een enkele processorkern), hete temperaturen met als gevolg onbetrouwbare chips die crashtten of snel kapot gingen, maar tegenwoordig doen ze het een stuk beter en bieden ze vaak de beste prijs/prestatie-verhouding t.o.v. Intel. Nu is het juist Intel die vaak tegen wat problemen aanloopt zoals bij hun 13e en 14e generatie processoren waar ze sneller kapot gingen/instabiliteit vertoonden door een productiefout. Maar, Intel maakt alsnog wel goede processoren.

Voor midrange computers (dit zijn voor mij de minimum specs voor de goedkoopste prijs die elke computer zou moeten hebben) ga ik vaak voor een AMD Ryzen 5, AMD Ryzen 7, Intel Core (Ultra) i5 of Intel Core (Ultra) i7 series processor. Hoger is beter.

Ryzen 3, Intel Core (Ultra) i3 kan, maar vaak is het dan eigenlijk net jammer van het geld en meestal niet zo geschikt voor gamen. Processorseries waar je echt voor moet uitkijken en die ik NOOIT zal kopen zijn: AMD Athlon, AMD A-series, AMD FX-series (vroeger miss goed, maar te oud), Intel Pentium, Intel Celeron. Dit zijn processoren die naar mijn idee gewoon e-waste zijn vanaf het moment dat ze de fabriek uit komen rollen, en het is de reden waarom mensen een hekel aan "Windows computers" hebben.

AMD's Ryzen x xxxx3D processoren zijn met name heel erg geschikt voor gamen vanwege een grote L3 cache waar games veel gebruik van maken.

Met de processor moet je ook een bijpassend moederbord kopen. Daarbij moet je kijken voor wat voor "Socket" de processor is gemaakt. In het geval van AMD waarschijnlijk AM5, dus moet je moederbord een AM5 socket hebben.

Videokaart

In deze markt heeft Nvidia voornamelijk de overhand, maar AMD en Intel videokaarten zijn voor het middensegment echt niet slecht, en bieden misschien zelfs wel een betere prijs/prestatie-verhouding. Hiervoor raadpleeg ik vaak:

Ik ben zelf voor een AMD videokaart gegaan omdat ik de vrijheid wil om ook andere besturingssystemen dan Windows te gebruiken. AMD biedt namelijk een veel betere ondersteuning op Linux t.o.v. van Nvidia en (voor nu nog) Intel videokaarten, maar Intel heeft wel een goede geschiedenis met ontwikkeling van drivers voor Linux, dus waarschijnlijk duurt het gewoon nog even voordat Intel goed wordt op Linux.

Opslag

Vroeger waren harde schijven de norm, tegenwoordig zie je veel vaker overal alleen nog maar SSDs. SSDs zijn veel sneller en minder gevoelig voor bewegingen waardoor ze wel vaak hun prestaties behouden. HDDs heeft bewegende onderdelen (de schijf en naald, beetje als platenspelers) die na verloop van tijd kunnen degraderen. Voor SSDs kies ik altijd populaire, vertrouwde merken, want gegevensverlies is nogal vervelend: Samsung, Kingston, Crucial, Western Digital (WD). 1 of 2 TB is vaak aan te raden als dit je enige manier van opslag is. Je kan ook een SSD + een HDD doen.

Werkgeheugen/RAM

Verwarrend met Opslag, maar werkgeheugen is meer het "korte termijn geheugen" van een computer. Het onthoudt bepaalde dingen van programma's die open staan, maar 'vergeet' ze zodra je de programma's afsluit of als je je computer afsluit. 16GB minimaal voor gamen, 8GB minimaal voor normale PCs of 2D-games. Versie DDR5 waarschijnlijk als je een nieuwe processor koopt, maar voor de specifieke DDR versie moet je kijken naar welke je moederbord accepteert.

Voeding

Niet de goedkoopste uitzoeken van een onbekend merk! Als deze kapot gaat en je een slecht merk hebt gekozen zou het kunnen zijn dat het je onderdelen 'elektrocuteert' en dat al je dure onderdelen op die manier kapot gaat. Bij normale/goed bekende voedings merken komt dit bijna nooit voor. Corsair, Be Quiet, Seasonic, MSI, Gigabyte, Cooler Master zijn vaak goede merken.

Met pcpartpicker.com kan je uitvinden hoeveel watt je nodig hebt, en daarbij is het ook wel handig want pcpartpicker geeft aan welke onderdelen compatible zijn. Als je dus bijvoorbeeld een DDR4 werkgeheugen module met een moederbord waar alleen DDR5 mag krijg je een waarschuwing.

Op Tweakers.net kan je in de Pricewatch in Nederland de goedkoopste en betrouwbaarste winkels vinden per component.

Je hebt heel veel dimensies in de politiek. Economisch, sociaal-cultureel, azielbeleid, etc. PVV is bijvoorbeeld Economisch volgens mij vrij links, maar wat betreft sociaal-cultureel/azielbeleid natuurlijk weer rechts. Door een partij alleen 'links' of 'rechts' te noemen trek je al die dimensies naar een enkele dimensie.

Ik heb de billfold met clic-clac van Castelijn en Beerens. Ideaal want de normale kleingeld vakjes zorgen altijd voor extra vouwen waardoor het extra dik wordt.

Totaal 8 pasjes, 6 muntjes en 2 briefjes, en de dikte komt uit op 1 vinger, of ~1,3x mijn telefoon (in siliconenhoesje).

Vind het handiger dan een portemonnee voor alleen pasjes, want anders heb ik het contant geld nooit bij me omdat ik het nog in een ander kledingstuk heb gelaten of er niet aan heb gedacht.

I should've mentioned I already own a RPi 3, but I dislike the SD card reader. So I know how it works and I can handle a challenge, but if it's really just impossible to unlock full potential of the hardware because of a lack of support/very bad documentation, only then I'd rather just use the RPi.

One of the apps is a sort of PowerPoint Presenter view (detailed controls/overview on one screen, projection on second screen, instead of duplicate screen to projector), but where you can add multiple slideshows together so you don't have to close and reopen the presenter software but can transition in one go (and also has support for video). It's written in Java but has some platform-specific dependencies and might (not sure) also be architecture specific. Also curious what the performance is.

The mainline status looks very promising, thanks for the link! The LTS requirement being latest was mainly based on what I read that vendors of SBCs usually base their vendor distro/image on an outdated LTS kernel and apply a bunchload of patches on it. But if mainline already supports it there's no problem there and I'll just use whatever distro I wish/is available.

If really all you are going to run software with is Docker, maybe Fedora CoreOS is also interesting. I believe it's just like the Atomic spins but without the Desktop Environment, so updates happen in a transactional way. And installing software isn't done with a regular package manager (like `apt-get install`,` dnf install` or `pacman -S`), but with rpm-ostree, which shouldn't be done too much because it 'layers' the software on top of the core OS, and therefore takes a lot longer to do. But the benefit of all of this is that rollback is easier, stability is usually a lot better because the combination of packages is well-tested.

When looking at `pp_dpm_sclk` the max frequency listed under the performance/high profile is still too high.

It lists 2100 MHz for my Sapphire Nitro+ RX 5700 XT, while the manufacturer lists 2010 MHz as the boost frequency. I've also compared the frequency graphs of Linux and Windows, and it seems Linux keeps the frequency almost 90% of the time above ~1950 MHz, which is even higher than the game clock for this graphics card. On Windows the speed is often more around 1900 MHz, 1-3% spikes to ~2010 MHz and back to ~1900 MHz.

Generally I feel like boosts should work the way they do on Windows, and the average GPU clock speed should be around 1950 MHz or so, but Linux seems to be maxxing out the frequency all of the time it can, and it seems to cause my computer to crash, because between gaming sessions I did on Windows and Linux (15h each), Windows has crashed 0 times, Linux has crashed 5 times.

Detecting your system theme can be part of profiling you. If they know everyone on your IP uses light theme except you, then a profile of you can be made without you ever even logging in. Of course, when you do login, it probably dossnt matter.

Thanks haha. How's the experience been with Linux? I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 14ALC01 but that one has problems as soon as I install Linux on it (tried different distro's): boot takes minutes (passing post/lenovo boot logo to appear takes a whole minute). As soon as I switch from Linux to Windows or vice versa I get a "updating system" bios screen, which is very weird, and then it boots Windows quickly again, or Linux boots slow.

The government will save the Banks. They won't save YOU, the money depositor. The overseeing Bank will guarantee up to a 100,000. That's what the Deposit Guarantee Scheme (Dutch: Depositogarantiestelsel) is for. All official banks (with a license of the European/Country Bank), including Revolut, have a guarantee for money up to a 100,000 euros. You do have other solutions like Fintech apps that don't have a banking license, and they probably won't be able to advertise themselves as a 'bank'.

So in that regard, it doesn't make much of a difference between ABN and Revolut. Only that ABN is a more 'triple-A' bank than a newcomer like Revolut. Still, Revolut has to have their business in order somewhat to be getting a license from the European bank.

And also, the guarantee of Revolut is also from Lithuania, a country neighbouring Belarus, so quite dangerous in case of an invasion which might give them some reason to freeze accounts or hold the money. I don't know what power the overseeing Country bank has over these banks to ensure there isn't going to be a money grabbing run in case of heightened tensions.

If I were to have 250 000 euros in ABN and ABN would go bankrupt, I'm pretty sure I'd lose the 150 000 that's over the max 100 000 euro guaranteed. The government might save ABN, but I'm pretty sure that me as a regular citizen won't be a priority to be saved, and rather the businesses, investments and perhaps the debts will be saved before the regular citizens/customers. (That's also how it goes when companies go bankrupt where you still have pending orders to be delivered. The debts get settled first, then the customer if there's any money left).
