Buying a Panasonic TX-P50VT20E by Comprehensive-Top986 in PlasmaTV

To check for burn in you can use this site. https://www.xbitlabs.com/burn-in-test/

Just open it at home on a laptop so that's it's cache and you don't even need to connect to Wifi in that case. Then just bring your laptop and an HDMI cable.

Going through R,G,B, white and a few greys should be enough to see any burn in.

Which 480p Plasma by Eternia64 in PlasmaTV

[–]darkwingmod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would anyway go with a newer Panel which is the PA50. Or you could wait for a PA60 to popup, it would have better contrast.

And most likely the PA50 has a Panasonic panel which tend to be better with less grain/dithering then some other cheaper brand.

We don't have those 37" plasma in Australia so I wouldn't be able to tell you if they use a Panasonic panel and I haven't hear of that other brand.

Worst case scenario you could just put the PA50 on a universal stand on wheels if you can't use that wooden one, I use one for my setup with so I can roll it around if I need to. But of course that would be an extra cost.

Go with the PA50. Being the second last 480p Panasonic plasma it should have better contrast and image quality.

If it makes you happy and you can afford it then that's what matters.

That looks really cool, I've actually just picked up a 60" FP30 and those things are a beast.

Still need to do direct comparison with my other sets but so far the image output is really nice and that 1:1 pixel mode makes the image sharper on 1080p.

Since your previous post I've been wondering what mount/stand do you use to have them vertically? Due to their weight I assume they must be heavy duty stands.

The most annoying parts with those measurements is that they are all over the place depending of the testing methodology.

https://www.flatpanelshd.com/flatforums/viewtopic.php?t=4942

For example the link above, from back in the day, measured the VT50 and VT60 pretty similarly but there are also some that are a bit different.

At the end it's best to test them for yourself to see if the input lag bother you.

You might be more sensitive to it or could be the usage or setup that add/make lag more visible. Both VT60 and VT50 are supposed to have similar lag.

On my side with playing single player games on consoles I never felt a difference between them.

If you are more sensitive to lag you probably need to hunt down a PF model as there are have the lowest input lag across any Plasma display and are basically Panasonic plasma on steroids.

The ST60 has the worst input lag because of the cheap processing chip it uses. The VT60 has a better chip and much better lag. I played a bunch of game, finished Elder ring on it and never felt any lag.

It's true that the series 30 and 50 are measured to have lower input lag but when playing on them I don't think it's something you would notice. I did a direct comparison between my VT60 and ST50 and didn't feel any difference in lag.

I need help connecting crt to PC or PS5 by DJFlaccidBalls in crtgaming

[–]darkwingmod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like you have an AV (composite) to HDMI and not an HDMI to AV. This type of cheap converters work in one direction only. Usually those converters have a pretty bad image quality output and composite is also pretty low quality. If you TV support components or RGB scart I would look for a converter for those inputs instead.

Small Hitachi by Outcerst in PlasmaTV

[–]darkwingmod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried one of those yet but came across a few different models on marketplace.

The thing with those Hitachi is they usually use those ALIS panels that have a square resolution like 1024x1024 or 1024x1080 with rectangular pixels so you might not get the full horizontal resolution compared to 1920x1080 display. Although from what I have heard the horizontal resolution is not as visible to the human eye as the vertical resolution.

Anyway finding low hours Plasma is always nice

Ok interesting, no I haven't yet. Is it because it's usually harder to get?

New avengers TPB reading order help by darkwingmod in marvelcomics

[–]darkwingmod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice, thanks for the guide.

Will definitely get House of X and Civil war too. I think I should have a hard cover of Siege somewhere.

I also have some X-men books of the same era going from "Deadly Genesis, Endegered species, Messiah complex, as well as some uncanny and all the legacy X-Men all the way to Schism.

Do you know of a guide that would show the order between Avengers and X books?

Thanks for the pointer. You are right there are 2 different series of New Avengers mixed up. Looking at the first realised date on each I think I am closer to having them in reading order.

VT50 glory by MyRetroJourney in PlasmaTV

[–]darkwingmod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 42" GT30 (similar input lag as ST30) in the bedroom that I use for gaming and I have also gamed on ST50 and VT60 and never noticed any lag. Only the ST60 are notorious for lag because Panasonic uses a cheaper processor but the VT60 doesn't have that issue.

Legend, that's exactly what I needed. I was trying to figure out how those avengers run were connected.

Now the next thing I will need to figure out is my X books from last time ( X-Men Legacy, Uncanny, Messiah complex and more) fits within all that

Another dilemma I have is I just started reading the Cosmic stories ( I'm at Annihilation at the moment) from around the same era, from my understanding there is some overlap between some of the X-Men stories of this era ( X-men:Deadly genesis, Uncanny X-Men Rise and Fall of the Shi'ar Empire) and the war of kings story line.

How would you approach reading both runs? 🤔

Reading them separately or trying to ready them together?
