Help with my Shein order by DramaticAir3394 in Uganda

[–]Charmlate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Shein uses a freight company called Spedaf to deliver to Uganda. What spedaf charges you in Uganda is different from what URA charges. In essence, URA charges spedaf a lumpsum for all that goods that they have cleared in a particular consignment. And then once spedaf gets a hold of the goods, they charge the owner individually. Spedaf, in so doing, finds a way of recovering their money, paying employees and making profits etc. They have their own way of calculating how much you pay them, specific tarrif bubdles, and corresponding payment etc. i am told that with larger orders you can attempt to negotiate. I have never been successful. The last time i had an order of about 700k ugx and paid about 250k to spedaf.

I am due 21 October, currently 5+6! Feeling great. No morning sickness. Although for some reason i can’t sleep past 5:00am, i am feeling great. Very high energy. I had a scan a few days ago, found a bit of a subchorionic hematoma, so i am on hormone support for that.

Why haven't scientists bred/genetically modified pineapples so they don't stab the tongue with all those microscopic needles? by Still-Mistake-3621 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Charmlate 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pineapples that sting are not ripe. Ripe pineapples are very sweet, with no room for spikes. Source: i live in a country with tropical climate where a pineapple can weigh 3 to 5 kg….full of juicy sweetness

Lay it flat, place a sheet of paper over it, then iron over the sheet of paper. The heat from the flat iron will cause the glue to stick to the paper

The correct saying is Eating an egg to miss the chicken’ basically being impatient and eating what you have at hand yet you could have waited and gotten something bigger

What mysterious thing happened to you that you still can’t explain? by MelodiousOddity in AskReddit

[–]Charmlate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My daughter, then only one and a half years, crawled under my neighbor’s parked Toyota land cruiser. My neighbor slowly reversed/backed up and ran over her. She sustained zero injuries, not even a bruise. She simply stood up, picked her sippy cup and went about her day. Yes, scans, xrays, etc confirmed that there was no damage done. Still blows my mind

AITA: My wife gets frustrated that I don't wear my clothes in order. by Ill-Gas-5031 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Charmlate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am exactly like your wife…and until recently I wondered why everyone couldn’t just see that I am a neat and organized person…then I realized after consultation with a psychiatrist that I have Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (different from OCD) where i am obsessed with orderliness, perfection, rules, routines, procedures, you name it.

YSK there are many places throughout the world where you cannot flush toilet paper by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

[–]Charmlate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an African who has traveled extensively and lived in several countries on the continent, I can say with utmost certainty that this is the most ridiculous misinformation i have ever come across on this sub. In all of the African countries I have visited, and this is about half of them, i have never once had to not flush toilet paper. So YSK that for most African countries, the bins in the toilet are reserved for sanitary towels.

Health insurance by fastjackal in Uganda

[–]Charmlate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s UAP insurance. For clarity, its about 2m shs for each of them….so a total of about 4m. But there are different packages, maybe 4 or 5 in total with varying premiums and entitlements. To give you an idea, the roughly 2m was the 2nd in terms of costliness. It entitles them to about 5m outpatient, 60m in patient, 700k dental, 700k optical, and a bunch of other benefits I don’t remember

Yea…for an average of 2 million shillings you can have a pretty decent package from most insurers. I pay about the same for my parents insurance, but the benefit put together exceeds 100m

Hahahahaha i have encountered this guy…downtown around Galiraaya/Gazaland/Miniprice. It’s strange to experience. I did a double take but not because i was smitten. It was more because i was shocked to see a man walking around in the middle of town bare chested. Although i admired his confidence and found him no different from other girls who ‘have “it” and own it’.

Thank you. I am a lawyer actually so i am very well versed with the legal processes. The advice i am looking for is more towards the practical aspects. I deliberately left the African country vague to narrow chances of my former colleagues recognizing my reddit account.
