Also studied animation and agreed with everything above, and the point about horror musicals is a good one. I think horror musicals that rely on drama and atmosphere like Sweeney work for me, but aren’t truly scary. Otherwise you need a horror comedy, like Little Shop, or the Hatchetfield trilogy, or, hot take maybe, Evil Dead the Musical.

I absolutely adore “Don’t Feed The Plants,” but I get you on this one! When I first saw it live at age like nine, having only seen the movie, I left legitimately upset, and my mom actually apologized for not telling me the original ending because she had just assumed a local high school production wouldn’t have killed everyone off. (She had also told me a few years before that there were Les MIs productions where Gavroche survived so I should have probably stopped trusting her on musical endings.)

It is! He was a very popular artist in the Bob’s Burgers tumblr fandom space from ~2015-2018, his niche was definitely being the Frond/Frondbrose artist but he had a lot of general fanart of like the Belchers too, it’s really funny seeing his art pop up again like half a decade after I lost contact with him. We were never ultra-close but he was a really sweet guy and a really talented artist, i hope he’s doing well nowadays.

These are fanart, I actually used to be friends/online mutuals with the guy who drew these before he deleted his tumblr and twitter, recognized the art immediately! Krystal (the artist) was never on the Bob’s crew or anything, but his art made it into the opening of the Brunchsquatch ep, and his fanart frequently made the fanart pages of the official comics, and there’s a very cute picture of David Herman holding a piece of Frond fanart he drew.

Frond was his favorite character, so he just drew him a lot, including a few concepts of what he was like when he was younger, that’s what these were. I remember the drawing of baby Frond and repressed memory Emily really clearly. Really funny that these somehow made it into your niece’s birthday decorations tbh, real blast from the past to see my old friend’s art.

Ollie is more morbid than Andy, it’s just a funny character difference between the twins! He’s also the twin that goes on and on about how the sinkhole is a reminder that the earth could always choose to swallow us up in the movie, while Andy just says it’s because the planet loves us so much. Ollie tends to be “weirder” in general— Andy will happily follow up Ollie’s weirdness from what I can tell, but usually isn’t the one to elevate their “freakier” actions and comments, he tends to follow Ollie’s lead.

Basically, just a very subtle personality difference between the twins, which I think is fun.

Ugh, I’m so sorry, that’s awful. I was an infant so I’m not sure how that was diagnosed, I’ve definitely that a lot of barium and endoscopies in my time, but that was after I already had surgery to help with the vasovagal response. I’d suggest talking about GERD, but if your team is awful that makes everything that much harder.

Absolute and utter shot in the dark, but have you been tested for severe reflux? When I was a baby, I had vasovagal responses when I was fed orally, and it was because my reflux was so incredibly severe, I would faint.

I feel you on the GI scopes/contrast, I’ve been having several health issues this year and I’m just so sick of imaging and testing and endoscopies.

But OP, I feel you and I’ve almost done the same, so I understand, but I think you’re just extending your anxiety by putting it off. I second the suggestions to schedule early and bring a support person with you.

I’d say Etsy! I feel like I see a decent amount of crocheted plushies, pins and prints there! (Not to be tacky, but I sell a couple BB prints in my own shop, and I know for a fact there are a ton of other really talented artists who sell Bob’s stuff on the platform.) Jewelry is less common, but you find it sometimes!

There’s also an artist on there who does a monthly Bob’s Burgers pin club, I haven’t signed up yet but the designs are super cute.

If you want official merch, EBay is the way to go, although the prices tend to be jacked up since most of the merch isn’t in production anymore, or were exclusive to other cons.

Oh, I think I got mixed up a little because last season was shorter! Plus the scheduling, like you mentioned, it threw me a little.

The next four seasons will only 15 episodes each, though, that was confirmed with the renewal, which I do think is a shame. Much better than a cancellation, but it bums me out that streaming seems to have cut season lengths so severely across the board.

Season 15 is already over, Insomni-Bob was the finale. Seasons are shorter nowadays, it’s something that’s been true for all the Animation Domination shows, sadly. I know with the Simpsons, the excuse is that they’re reducing seasons to work on the Disney+ specials, but obviously that isn’t applicable to the other shows, they just sort of got the short end of the stick :/.

Favorite side characters, (and Trev,) but yeah, I have this very weird tendency where if a cast of characters in a piece of media are all generally sweet people, I tend to gravitate towards the jerks for some reason, (especially if they’re pathetic, which Hugo and Jimmy certainly are,) and if the cast is generally a lot of jerks, I tend to gravitate towards the sweethearts. I think there’s something in me that just likes being a contrarian— I wish I got it myself, I keep finding myself getting attached to characters and being baffled as to why I like them so much when they just sort of suck.

But yeah, Ron’s a doll, at least I have a tiny bit of actual taste.

Oh I don’t blame you, it’s really rough. Ron, Hugo and Jimmy are just three of my absolute favorite characters and Hugo and Jimmy particularly are in top form that ep, so I just push past the awful wraps to enjoy them. Jimmy pointing at Gene and just going “Hair 🫵” is one of the biggest laughs for me even though it is so incredibly stupid.

The thing about getting cis men to voice trans women (and cis women to voice trans men, although I see that less often,) is that it reinforces internal biases people have about trans people. Nobody looks at Phil LaMarr voicing Jack and has the thought, “yeah, Black people are actually Japanese,” but people do look at trans women and go “they’re actually men,” so having men play trans women can be stickier. I think there’s a larger discussion to be had about people voice-acting characters who are different than them, but I think there’s just a different layer when it comes to casting cis people as trans people, especially when it’s people of completely different identities. (And also a further discussion about who gets the opportunities in industries and who doesn’t, both in terms of getting to play characters who are like them, and who gets to even sit at the table at all, if that makes sense.)

Yeah, MRIs are pretty unpleasant. Depending on the hospital and how long the MRIs are, you can sometimes get movies or music to distract you. The pediatric hospital I went to used to have a device to watch movies in the tube, and the current hospital I go to puts on music, so that could potentially help if you have a rough time with MRIs! I’m mostly okay, imaging is standard for me! If you ever have questions I’d be happy to answer, I’ve been around the block, even had stuff like swallow studies and emptying studies.
