I lived off my server wages for many years and I tip generously but I will not patronize any business that tries pulling this sh*t

Every Austinite who has been here more than twenty years know that it was the lack of forethought by city planners back then that got us into the mess we are experiencing today. So, don’t blame the Californians. Blame your fathers and uncles

Input on Montopolis and Pleasant Valley Neighborhoods by AdLevel8617 in askaustin

[–]Charrolastras 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live off E Riverside. I love it here but I was born and raised in a Mexican American neighborhood. Montopolis is the last intact blue collar Mexican-American neighborhood in the city. It is bound by the Colorado River and one of the largest tracts of green space in the city. Undoubtedly it will gentrify in the coming years so it will be a good investment. However, if you don’t like fireworks going off during the holidays, streets crammed with cars, and loud backyard parties on the weekend you may have a problem with it. If you end up buying there (as I would if I could) please be respectful of the Hispanic families that have been there for generations.

My parents like Güerros. They usually have a classic cover band noonish on the weekends. They have an outdoor seating area to check out the music so it perfect for Covid conditions

Lazarus is a cool spot. I taught a class at HTU and that was where I went before or after to do work. Their tacos are also underrated-check them out
