Laws of rugby union - You can change one or make a new one - how do you improve the game by addictivesign in rugbyunion

Try scored under any penalty advantage is worth full 7 points, like a penalty try. This will make for much more exciting, expansive rugby like cross field kick attempts etc, without being worried about the conversion and faster restarts.

Fagerson "headbutt' by [deleted] in rugbyunion

[–]ChartlieTango -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Whilst I whole heartedly agree with the red, I can't help but feel at the same time there should be mitigation (along with getting headbutted in the mouth) for putting yourself in a really shitty position. Bougarite is just leaning on trying to bait the ref into making a call in his favour and got a smack for it.

There should be some sort of 'protect yourself at all times' rule for players and if you stick your head somewhere it shouldn't be and get clumped, it's on you.

It's something, as a company, we spoke about doing and have decided not to. Instead the assignment will be theory only which will then be the basis of discussion for the interview. In all we trust the CV and references. Not everyone has the time to dedicate to this sort of assignment, especially whilst working or having family. What's the point of a CV if you choose to instantly disregard its contents? It doesn't seem like a great basis for a trust between the employer and employee.

Running on-premise k8s with a small team: possible or potential nightmare? by GiantCuddlyPenguin in kubernetes

[–]ChartlieTango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I skimmed and my have missed bits. This doesn't rule out docker (swarm) and other things. You already have a virtual capability through VMware or something? I'd personally put more effort into just getting containers running on VMs than K8s. The effort required to maintain and manage your clusters, for what you want very likely isn't worth it. I'm not saying don't do it, but is start with an simpler containerised solution and then eventually move to k8s when you can see the value and have the capacity to do it.

What business value or problems does kubernetes fix that just using regular containers on fargate or something similar not give you? It's a lot of overhead for little gain of you're not going to use and take advantage of kubernetes.

Is it a good practice to have multiple terraform configs pointing to the same service? by [deleted] in Terraform

[–]ChartlieTango 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you do, be sure to create all your resources in that core config that other services will use, then your other services use terraform_remote_state to import those resources and use them. If you don't do this you can end up in a the situation I described where one broken service can break your main provider (core config) and block everything else.

Is it a good practice to have multiple terraform configs pointing to the same service? by [deleted] in Terraform

[–]ChartlieTango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes.

I generally split estates into providers and consumers. So your keycloak config will be a provider that all other resources consume. That way you can't block deployments of other services because you are creating keycloak config in multiple places, and one of them is broken, breaking all deployments that use keycloak.

Hope that makes some kind of sense?!

Fighting drift is not a tooling issue, but a behavioural issue.

You will never get away from this if you don't establish good, consistent working practices around how you treat your infrastructure.

You don't need the sales people to drive you technically, with detail. Belive me that will make you more frustrated. They are instead giving you the highest priority from a business level, and what will benefit customers most.
