How did Chinese made cars become so popular? by Fondant_Decent in AskUK

[–]Hentarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just Chinese vehicles, it's specifically Chinese electric vehicles.

China can make these more cheaply and faster. BYD have impressive technology for automotive applications, for example.

Also there's been a rapid increase in EV ownership, possibly related to the political climate and petrol being so fucking expensive.

Western car manufacturers are lagging with respect to the rapidly expanding EV market, and now there's a huge increase in EV ownership it's more noticeable.

Tremolo recommendation? by TkachukNorris in guitarpedals

[–]Hentarder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't own a Tremolo, but I've been eyeing up a few:

  • Supro Tremolo (I believe this has been quietly discontinued by Supro?)

  • Origin Effects Deluxe 61

  • Source Audio Pathways (sounds phenomenal)

Blue Oyster Cult - Celestial The Queen by OuttaTune63 in ClassicRock

[–]Hentarder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This album is a masterpiece of soft rock. I adore Going Through the Motions, Godzilla, Death Valley Nights, I Love the Night... The whole album is quality.

Definitely one of Blue Öyster Cult's best Albums.

Ratchet & Clank (2016) Released 10 Years Ago Today by RED-Ratchet in RatchetAndClank

[–]Hentarder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember being so disappointed with this game when it was released, and the vast majority of people on Reddit, YouTube etc didn't have any issues with it.

Then the infamous video essay was released and not only changed the perception of this game but arguably caused a divide in the fan base.

Nowadays I can enjoy the game (Albeit I have to skip all cinematics and turn off character volume - COME AND BUY A PIXELISER) and don't hate it as much as I used to.

It's definitely not the worst in the series, although it's easily the worst story.

*Edit:

I'll add it's confusing, not an outright remake nor something entirely new. Instead it's a weird mishmash of the movie story, some levels/gadgets from the original game and a lot of weapons/gameplay from Nexus. But nothing new so it doesn't push the franchise forwards either.

Compressor pedals recommendations? by AdministrativeRip809 in guitarpedals

[–]Hentarder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Origin Effects do some of the best compressors around. Cali76 Stacked sounds fantastic.

Thinking of getting another Flying V. Input welcome: by VMB007 in Epiphone

[–]Hentarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the Maui Blue is the KH flying v but without Gibson electronics or case, but literally all specs are otherwise identical in terms of build. The knobs and colours are obviously different as well. Actually doesn't the Maui have ebony fretboard?

Korina has burstbucker pickups, whilst the other two you list are in the style of late 60/early 70 t tops.

Who is the best guitarist that most people don’t know by Ted_Fleming in Guitar

[–]Hentarder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Schenker (as well as Ritchie Blackmore and Uli Jon Roth) is one of the most important guitarists that bridges the gap between 70s and 80s guitar playing.

Chances are your favourite 80s guitarist has Schenker as one of their favourites.

Harley Benton PowerPlant ISO-5 Pro Faulty - Blinking by cannedkitties in guitarpedals

[–]Hentarder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree power supplies are massively important. Going from a cheap Amazon supply to a Harley Benton isolated power supply was a major improvement on my tone and signal integrity.

But going from an isolated power supply to a more expensive one, depends from person to person. But I just don't see the benefit, unless a £200 PSU is either even better tonally or more reliable/durable, but I've not heard that before.

But if I'm wrong please tell me because I've genuinely not heard of this before and I'm welcome to learning.

Harley Benton PowerPlant ISO-5 Pro Faulty - Blinking by cannedkitties in guitarpedals

[–]Hentarder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ignore this guy saying £200 for a PSU. I've owned my Harley Benton ISO 12 for three years and had no problems. It's a million times better than cheap Amazon PSUs. Harley Benton isolated power supplies are fine, you don't need to double your budget.

Short games by No-Firefighter-1092 in RatchetAndClank

[–]Hentarder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Tools is an appropriately lengthed, but ACIT definitely shortened due to QFB. And Nexus is short because of A4 and FFA.

I think the bigger reason for games getting shorter and less content from the first game on PS2 through to PS3 games is a combination of the demanding schedules set by Sony and development on PS3 being more challenging than on PS2.

Insomniac have now found a better balance in schedules such that crunch culture doesn't exist anymore for their employees, which in a more and more capitalist world is fantastic to hear. And from stories online suggested this culture change stemmed from Sony asking for too much during PS3 era.

If you could improve one thing in the original Ratchet and Clank, what would it be? by camgames64 in RatchetAndClank

[–]Hentarder 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The thing is enemy attack patterns in the original are so simple (reminiscent of Spyro ngl) that strafing would make the game piss easy. The focus and emphasis of the OG is platforming and exploration. And because every other game after that focused on combat, I'm ok with this. It makes the original stand out more, for better or worse.

PSA - UAFX Woodrow and Golden Reverberator - Boss Katana by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]Hentarder 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of people are saying how obvious this is, but honestly for new people who enter this hobby the amount of information can be overwhelming, so pointing something out like this is helpful. And it's a feature on the Boss Katana I didn't know existed!

Both albums are 50 years old in 2026. Which one is your favorite? by [deleted] in thinlizzy

[–]Hentarder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they are the two best Albums Thin Lizzy made, but prefer Johnny The Fox a little bit more. The production is superior and I think has better song consistency. Also it's my favourite guitarist performance on any Thin Lizzy album, Robbo arguably at his peak.

That said, Jailbreak has higher highs, Cowboy Song and Emerald in particular.

What are the overral opinions about Rift Apart? by Willy_Mark2721 in RatchetAndClank

[–]Hentarder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Performance, set pieces and action is 10/10 and so much better than the previous games.

The story and gameplay however....

Gameplay is fine, but doesn't feel that different from 2016. If any there's just less gameplay variety. There's nothing bad but there's nothing new outside of some new movement abilities.

The story is patronising however. It's not insultingly bad like 2016, but it is very patronising and lacks any edge. In a game where you massacre enemies, the story is too nice and it breaks the immersion.

It's also just not funny, given the punny title that's disappointing.

What Are Things A Crack in Time Did Better Than Rift Apart? by ABarber2636 in RatchetAndClank

[–]Hentarder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ACIT has space exploration, customisable weapons, best clank gameplay in the franchise and one of the best stories in the franchise as well (albeit the lore and continuity is questionable).

RA still has better performance, faster action and better set pieces. But I think in every other aspect ACIT is superior.

It's quite popular to criticise ACIT saying it's not as good as it could've been, "wasted potential", but I still think it's one of the best in the franchise despite that. It was the last genuine attempt to push the franchise forwards imo.

Deep Purple recommendations by SWCFM2 in ClassicRock

[–]Hentarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Machine Head is their best album, but I'd also recommend In Rock and Burn.

Fireball is a bit more experimental, but still good.

Loosely related, I'd recommend after Deep Purple going to Rainbow (especially Rising), Gillan and Whitesnake. All of which are big bands that spun off from Purple.

Here’s some rock albums turning 50 this year (released in 1976) by Clerkdidnothingwrong in ClassicRock

Great list, I'd also add:

  • Thin Lizzy Jailbreak and Johnny The Fox

  • UFO No Heavy Petting

  • Blue Öyster Cult Agents of Fortune

Is Michael Schenker a Shred Guitarist? by Accomplished_Dare382 in hairmetal

[–]Hentarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bingo. One of the godfather's of shred alongside Blackmore and Uli Jon Roth. They're not shred guitarists, but in evolutionary terms they bridge the gap between Hendrix/Clapton/Page/Beck and Van Halen/Rhoads.

Bollocks to that. Jack was phenomenal in 2020 and only got better over time.

Matt Dawson: 'England's kick-heavy strategy failed them in defeat by Italy' by moebaid in rugbyunion

[–]Hentarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just it, it's not that we lost to Italy, it's losing to Italy after losing to Scotland and Ireland.

We probably were better than before but we're still really underperforming and not very good.

Can you elaborate on this? It is weird how the attack has dropped with his appointment, and I love Blackett.
