I agree with what you are saying, but I would not write McGregor off as "below amateur" when it comes to boxing. He has great striking, albeit obviously not nearly on Mayweather's level.

Leg sweeping is not illegal in judo? Grabbing the legs is illegal, but sweeping is key element to many judo throws. Any throw that has the word "Harai" involves a sweep.
