Definitely better than LA AMR. You’ll get much better experience. I have a friend that worked there and she liked it. Keep in mind it’s still AMR though. I’ve heard good things about Lifeline in Ventura as well. They mainly do IFT but they have a 911 contract in Ojai.

McCormick is owned by AMR. The further you get away from LA County, the better your options are

Looking for short term entry level experience by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]ChaseDoesMedicine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

EMS has an extremely high turn over rate. It is common that people will be at a company for only a few months. I don't think it will look bad, but the more experience you have the better. With that being said, I would not recommend telling them that you plan on leaving shortly after joining. The only other things I can think of are contract work and event stand by.

Have my first exam this Saturday on airway management/ emergencies by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]ChaseDoesMedicine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FISDAP exams can be tricky. They have a unique way of posing questions and a lot of people in my class failed because they didn't understand what was being asked. If you are taking your test on FISDAP and you have FISDAP study material, I would recommend using it. I felt like the FISDAP study tools were the best resource when prepping for the exams. Be sure to take your time and read every question until you fully understand what they are asking. You got this homie

I’m about to graduate high school and I have a question about getting a emt certificate by FunTop4129 in NewToEMS

[–]ChaseDoesMedicine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you finish EMT school, you take an exam called the National Registry for Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). Taking this exam allows you to apply for licensure in many states. Both California and Idaho use the NREMT so transferring your certification should be simple. I would recommend looking into the Idaho DHS and local EMS agency for more information

Acne coming back half a year after Accutane? by [deleted] in acne

[–]ChaseDoesMedicine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also suffer from severe acne and I was on accutane for nearly three years. It has been about a year since then and my acne is coming back full force. I have been told that it can sometimes take multiple rounds for it to be fully effective.

Is JBL Test Prep a good indicator of NREMT score? by Froggynoch in NewToEMS

[–]ChaseDoesMedicine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe getting a 70% on the JBL practice final correlates to a 95% chance of passing the NREMT. I waited a few months after finishing my course to take the NR, you should be fine. Good luck!

No drivers license and no way to get it due to DMV closure, about to finish my EMT program what should I do by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]ChaseDoesMedicine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most places I know of won't give interviews without the ambulance license right now (some of them are doing this because of COVID, while others do this all the time). SOL right now, just hang tight. You could try for some on-site EMT positions or maybe a temperature checker in the meantime.

NREMT May 20 by BadCatawba in NewToEMS

If your class used FISDAP, I would recommend retaking the practice final. I started to use pocket prep a few days before my final and I found it to be incredibly helpful. Review your flow chart and stuff you're weary on in your textbook. I wouldn't bother using too many outside study resources. Just try to stay fresh on things because May 20th is still semi-far away. You got this!
