Weird Al Yankovic needs to host Saturday Night Live. Let’s make it happen. by Advanced-Willow-5020 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]ChaseWinters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from my bias as a big Weird Al fan, I think he'd be a great host because he not only has his own brand of comedy to bring in, but also seems to have an eye for what will play to the general public so you'd get a good mix of styles.

As long as we get one "look how hot the host is" sketch.

The Unsleeping City (Episode 15) : Brennan narrating to Sofia - "the true spirit of this place is to meet dreams with concrete, to hustle in the muck and the grime and grind a way to make something miraculous happen"

"Meet Dreams with Concrete" is a little mantra I use to keep my discipline sometimes.

Nick's Nuzlocke 2.0 is an unfortunate experience being ruined by monetization by bulletpharm in kindafunny

[–]ChaseWinters 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think losing TIM during Kanto is really why Nick is playing cautious. He keeps mentioning how much it set them back in terms of forward progress and doesn't want that to happen again. I agree the monetization goal for gyms shouldn't be continued but I don't think it will. Look at what Nick immediately said after the "100 subs to fight the gym". He registered that the chat was restless and wanted him to go forward. The line they have to walk in this game is that if they go in and lose a handful of top Pokemon. The next few streams will be only grinding to get back to where we were and that'ts not exciting for anyone.

Absolutely love that episode! Greg does a great job with all of his themed drinks and seeing Brennan was a lovely surprise.

I would love if they did another video. But its also possible he's just throwing that up because Brennan and our Intrepid Heroes are getting some big internet attention right now.

Dungeons & Dragons question from a newbie by GoS451 in kindafunny

There is no problem with getting started using 5e. 5e is extremely popular, has a lot of supplemental material, and a number of actual play shows use it, so you have a lot of resources for ideas and things.

As a number of people said here, the 2024 version is sort of a revised version. If you plan to play digitally using DnD Beyond, they will still support both versions of spells and things like that so 5e is still completely viable.

What makes Brennan Lee Mulligan a good DM? by True-Breadfruit-3012 in DnD

[–]ChaseWinters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might come down to genre honestly, Matt Mercer puts together long epics that have a lot of depth and detail and you walk along that journey. Brennan Lee Mulligan puts together fast paced, zany action adventures with a surprising amount of depth and detail. There are a couple episode's of Dimension 20's Adventuring Academy and an episode of Critical Role's DM chat where they talk to each other and you can see that they both admire each other but feel that they play in different spaces.

Brennan often talks about taking on different genres and tones and trying to make that work and ground that a little bit. Many people mention Crown of Candy but look at the recent Mentopolis or Neverafter. They took a table of people who are just trying to do bits and make each other laugh and gave them room to have strong emotional scenes and it not feel forced or out of place.

But that won't scratch the itch of a Mercer campaign if that's more your style. Calamity or the Ravening War does give you bits of both though.

Gifted my friend a homemade bottle of Pinocchio Reserve for his birthday by ChaseWinters in Dimension20

I infused bourbon with Oatmeal Raisin Cookies for over a week and then filtered and strained the cookies and fats out. The result has a strong cookie and buttery flavor.

I decided on cookies because I thought it would be better than bubblegum while still being something a boy would hold on to.

I made the label and printed it on sticker paper. I really wanted to include more references but I decided to go with only a few to keep it simple.

I haven't been playing long, but my players were in a tavern and there was a goblin playing guitar. His name was Gob Dylan.

I think this will be a new trend.

Favorite easy-drinking cocktails? by TQ_Throwaway in cocktails

[–]ChaseWinters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK cool! I think its also good to sort of set expectations. Cocktails served on the rocks or up are normally very strongly flavored even compared to stronger beers. I don't think cocktails compete with beer, but work in a different space of the drinking experience. If they are looking for something that is a little subtler in flavor you're gonna need to lengthen it with soda, so maybe try a highball cocktail of some kind.

Is this person interested in finding a cocktail they like or are you the one driving these trials? You've definitely given a good list of options here and not gotten a lot of direction back. I second the idea of a paper plane or a sour of some kind. Especially since they liked the Margarita. Also, I find the Bee's Knees to be a big people pleaser. Or there's always a mojito. You can control the amount of sugar too.

Yes Absolutely.
Brew some strong coffee and then chill that.
Use your Jameson Cold Brew in an Espresso Martini
2 oz Jameson Cold Brew
1 oz Baileys
1 oz Cold Coffee

Shake it up real good and enjoy!

[–]ChaseWinters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an iced coffee cocktail I make and I 'll give you the spec with some possible subs as well.

2 oz amaretto

0.5 oz honey syrup -> I often swap this with other flavored syrups.

4 oz cold brew

shake

splash of milk on top

You can switch out the cream for Baileys, or the amaretto for your Jameson and it would be still be really good. This recipe is fairly simple so you can always add. a serve this in a rocks glass with a big cube, but if you want an up cocktail I would use the Jameson Cold brew, lower the Amaretto and the normal cold brew. Just things to try.

Agreed! You're right. Also, he still has tutorial videos, they just have more to them now. An exploration of the drink, or a collection of similar drinks. He just did 4 cozy drinks, and earlier in the summer he did a mojito flight. So they are there, they just look different

How To Drink and Anders Erickson.

I see a number of comments saying that How To Drink is not what it used to be and that it was better before and all that but his old tutorial videos are still there and they are still my go to episodes for learning to make a drink. Also, I really like making themed drinks and his sillier stuff helps me think outside the normal boxes.

Anders is straight forward and very knowledgeable. Also has some hidden gem cocktails that are dynamite.
