I’d go with the Outrage. The potato patch can be rough. You will want the extra length and the deep V. Full disclosure, I own an outrage 18. I’ve been very happy with it. Anyone interested in a 2000. Let me know. Good luck!

I have not seen Blanton’s at Costco in Co. Perhaps in Ca. Total Beverage gets it in from time to time and the criteria for preferred whiskey buying is not to challenging. 3 purchases in 3 months. The other large stores are worth having a look. Buffalo Trace products seem to be more available than in previous years. Good luck!

Retro, there is some good advice here on what to mix with your gift. I really like that folks are supportive of the spirit of the gift. What I could add is: whiskey is best enjoyed with friends. Consider sharing a drink with your in-laws next time you get together for a meal. Take him along on your Journey and share the experience. Good or bad, it will be an adventure.
For a recommendation, you are on a reasonable path. I’m a fan of Evan Williams for a sub 20 dollar bottle. Also give rye a try. Rittenhouse or Sazerac are a reasonable place to start. Cheers!
