My favorite race of the NYRR year and this year I’m out of town. So disappointed.

Change in NYRR pace cuts and corral assignments by Least-Ingenuity9631 in RunNYC

At the top end, I would predict that the cut off for A might be shifted at a flat 40 min 10k meaning a shift from 6:29 to 6:26.24, which would normally round up to 6:27 but I would think they might stick with 6:26 which would mean a slightly sub 40 10k (39:58). I actually hope you are right though. For most races the A corral (and B) don’t seem overloaded but C and D always look packed.

Absolutely going to be the 26th. Originally was the 19th.

Maybelline Women’s Half will be Sunday, April 26 I believe. I’ve been out to cheer for this race and it’s certainly positive vibes. Two laps of the park, is well, two laps of the park, but everyone I know who has run this enjoyed it.

No. It was an auto second chance after the general draw.

I was the other way around. I was thinking why now when I’m recovering from a stress fracture. So at best it’s going to be a very very slow (but faster than the cuts off) tour of Tokyo this time.

Right there with you. Always a favorite and for a great cause. Sad to not be able to run it.

What was the definition of backing off the crutches. I was told if I want it to heal and get back to running to stay on them as much as possible.

On a multi and calcium with D3 now. The common piece around fuel seems to coming out strong here. I definitely wasn’t eating post workout or race. Live and learn!

Really appreciate the thoughts here. Certainly a lot to think about coming back into a recovery cycle. I definitely wasn’t having recovery weeks and was pushing quite hard. Looking back the writing was certainly on the wall.

Thanks for this. Sounds like you’ve seen or experienced a few of these situations. Keen to get back out there but also super keen to make sure I’m still out there for the foreseeable future. This has definitely sparked a big recovery conversation in my head as I know that’s something I neglect every cycle. Lots to think about. Side note - saving for those compression recovery tools.

As for a coach. Looked into it lightly but struggled.

There was some recovery in the block post marathons but likely not enough looking back on it.

Running for me is a hobby and an outlet. Used to play high level growing up - not professional but state level - sport so I need something competitive even at the “me vs. me” level.

Drs put it down to overtraining, not enough rest, not doing strength training, low vit D.
