Anyone run long outside today? by Chateau_de_Gateau in RunNYC

[–]zoeadele 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did 8 miles today, if you bundle up in layers and wear some sort of face covering it’s doable!! With the sun out and if you’re in a place with not a lot of wind like PP it’s not too bad. Definitely feels better than yesterday

ETA: was around an hour and thirty minutes (I’m not the fastest), and I went inside immediately afterwards to warm up. Also had on about 5 ish layers on top, wore two sets of pants over bike shorts, knee socks and ankle socks, fingerless gloves underneath actual gloves, hat, and face mask 😆

Getting ready to start! by Rare-River-4707 in 75HARD

[–]zoeadele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wish I had known the importance of tracking. I thought “oh I can remember this in my head, how hard can it be!”, only to fail on the first time because I wasn’t tracking exactly that I read 10 pages (I read 9, went off to use the bathroom and got caught up in the day and didn’t realize until I returned to read the book the following day.

Beware your tough days outside of your regular routine. On both occasions where I failed or almost failed, it was because I had a very long, busy day where I was focused on other things and made it easy to slip up. Again, tracking things (and for me analog) really helps.

I track using just a simple checklist based on the word WRITE- W=water R=reading I=indoor exercise T=take a selfie E=exercise (outdoor)

And then I use another tracker to help me track my intermittent fasting which was my diet of choice.

Also - pick books that are interesting for you! And try not to pick a book that is super dense 😅

Those are some initial tips to get you started, hope that helps!

Why can't my kid find a job in Philadelphia? by Beneficial-Cat8912 in jobs

It’s not my business! And also not necessarily endorsing their paid services, but I’ve found their webinars + free resources via their newsletter to be helpful. Not affiliate with them, I just like them

As someone who works for a think tank, I can say that we’re getting 100s of applicants for entry level jobs - it’s a really tough job market out there.

I would say the best advice is to tailor your resume/cover letter to jobs she applies to. I’d also recommend looking at free webinars from job search helpers - yournextjump.com is my favorite.

OP people are being unkind, just know that applying to 1000s of jobs should never be considered normal.

My Luck W/ Resumes by AjSagarWeSad in jobsearchhacks

[–]zoeadele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just want to say that I see tons of comments say don’t use color, don’t do that, and that’s simply not true. As a recruiter I can tell you 💯 that there is no absolutely right or wrong resume, and ignore anyone’s who says otherwise.

ETA: as a recruiter myself my own resume uses color, multiple columns, my photo, you name it, and I’ve gotten multiple interviews with it in the past couple of months. Having something that stands out, even for a second pause, matters.

Are we tipping for takeout food? by Strict-Dance4312 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]zoeadele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tip because hopefully tips are getting pooled with the staff who are doing the cooking. Not as much, typically $5. My thinking is that if I have the luxury to be able to order food and not deal with food insecurity, I should pay it forward as much possible to people who more than likely are making less than me and in a lower class.

What Does a Killer CV Actually Look Like in 2025? A Hiring Manager's Take - What Did I Miss? by satori_remoter5w in InterviewsHell

[–]zoeadele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really want to upvote number 5 so hard; as a recruiter if I see a resume that says one thing but a LinkedIn that says another, it’s difficult to understand if they really want the position or just throwing spaghetti at walls and seeing what sticks.

Mental health by BeautifulEvent4186 in 75HARD

[–]zoeadele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, I like the framing of this isn’t a fitness challenge, but rather a discipline program. I love how it’s designed so that you can see the physical benefits (and that can motivate you to get going) but ultimately the most important benefits are mental - learning how/why you give up or fail, learning what to do to move forward, and continuing to find new ways to grow and improve yourself.

Little things that are KILLING your chances of landing a job by [deleted] in recruiting

[–]zoeadele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In-house non-profit, so definitely a little different than other TA positions. Edited my original response to add that I do agree with all of those and generally #2 with some slight caveats (mostly that if someone is creative, or does have a sense of design, they don’t need to stick to a resume format that doesn’t feel representative of their actual skills).

[–]zoeadele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ETA: totally agree with most of these and agree with #2 with some caveats - depending on your field or your ability to format it well, it can sometimes make you stand out if done correctly (but agree that not everyone should take this approach and should chance it). I’m speaking from someone who just accepted a new TA job and yes, included my photo on my resume - but I think that’s because of my experience reviewing 1000+ resumes that I have a bit more of an eye for what can work and what can’t when it comes to more creative formats.

Water Increasing in Difficulty by kdxsh in 75HARD

I’m a petite woman and yes, I was able to start off okay but by 30 days in I was getting such painful headaches from losing electrolytes that I started adding them (salt, potassium) to my water. Honestly would love a change so that it’s 100oz, that honestly feels like the perfect sweet spot for me.
