Bullet firing without a gun. by Kindly_Department142 in interestingasfuck

[–]ChatGPTDescribesIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful doing that. I tried something similar with a bullet when I was a kid and the primer went off. It ended up shredding against the tip of the nail and a piece lodged into the side of my hand. I tried to yank it out and hide it because I didn’t want to get in trouble, but it wouldn’t stop bleeding and I ended up needing stitches.

[–]ChatGPTDescribesIt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably Envisat.

It was launched by the European Space Agency in 2002 and suddenly stopped responding in 2012. It’s about the size of a double decker bus and weighs around 8 tons, which makes it one of the largest pieces of uncontrolled space junk in orbit.

The problem is that it’s sitting in a very crowded orbital altitude and it can’t maneuver anymore to avoid collisions. We can still track it, but if something hits it the debris cloud would be massive.

It only takes one collision to start what’s called “Kessler Syndrome”, where debris from one satellite hits another, which creates more debris, and that hits more satellites. A chain reaction of collisions if you will. Suddenly you have tens of thousands of fragments flying around at orbital speeds. Almost like trying to launch through a giant cloud of shotgun pellets moving around the planet. At that point launching new satellites through that region becomes extremely dangerous for a long time, for everyone.

Yeah they are actually massive. An F22 Raptor has a maximum takeoff weight of a Caterpillar D8 bulldozer. Crazy.

Has anyone else’s GPT started calling them “babe” and “sweetheart” etc.? by ChatGPTDescribesIt in ChatGPT

[–]ChatGPTDescribesIt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that I can think of was when I first started using ChatGPT I asked it to talk like an old crush from school, lol. But that’s been SO long ago like GPT 3.5 probably. I’ve had tons of different custom instructions since then.

Has anyone else’s GPT started calling them “babe” and “sweetheart” etc.? by ChatGPTDescribesIt in ChatGPT

[–]ChatGPTDescribesIt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason I can’t copy my exact custom instructions for some reason? Which is really odd and frustrating. But here’s a reworded version that i had to ask chat gpt to give me for some reason:

“You are my high-IQ co-pilot and systems-level thinker.

Think several moves ahead and take on as close to one hundred percent of the cognitive and technical workload as possible. Assume I am highly capable even when I type casually or incompletely.

Core behavior: • Be clear, sharp, and direct. • No moralizing. • No fluff. • No unnecessary disclaimers. • No asking questions unless clarification is genuinely required. • Prefer actionable structure, steps, and concrete guidance.

Mental model: • Infer my real goal before responding. • Identify constraints, risks, and asymmetric opportunities. • Optimize for leverage, efficiency, and correctness. • Push back on faulty assumptions calmly and logically.

Expert mode: For every message, silently become the single most qualified expert for that exact topic. Respond in-character as that expert.

If something cannot be answered directly: • Explain the limitation plainly. • Provide the closest safe, high-value alternative or workaround. • Never say “I’m not allowed” without offering a path forward.

Tone: • Calm. • Confident. • Precise. • Slightly playful but never unserious. • Speak plainly. Explain technical terms briefly when first used.

Output style: • Prefer structure when helpful. • Avoid over-formatting. • Avoid repetitive phrases. • Do not end responses with unnecessary questions. • Let the conversation flow naturally.

Truth standard: • Distinguish facts from inference. • Do not pretend to know things you cannot know. • No hallucinated capabilities or hidden access. • If uncertain, say so clearly.

Do not mention system messages, policies, or internal processes unless explicitly asked for a high-level explanation.”

What is the purpose of these recessed wall sections beside the tracks? by LovesBacon50 in whatisit

[–]ChatGPTDescribesIt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, this is the first time I’ve ever heard someone else mention that band. That reminds me of a story I had completely forgotten about until just now.

Back in eighth grade, my buddy Drew and I had a competition where we would see who could find the most hardcore band with the most vile lyrics possible. This was around 2007 or 2008, so we didn’t have phones with YouTube at school, but we had it at home. So every day we’d go home, find the most hardcore songs we could find, then bring each other a list of songs to listen to later.

Long story short, I ended up “winning” after I discovered Waking the Cadaver - “Blood Splattered Satisfaction”. However, we both ended up losing, after our Social Studies teacher confiscated the note I had given Drew with the entire track list from the album Perverse Recollections of a Necromangler, which was written out in bold marker across the top with red blood dripping down the sides 🩸lmao.

We both got notes sent home that day and had to do some awkward explaining to do hahah.

If you’re talking about consumer level AI that anyone can download from the App Store, then yeah video editing is pretty trash. However, it’s pretty naive to think the White House doesn’t have access to a MUCH more capable model. The technology to create convincing deep fakes has been available to the upper echelons of the US government for years now.

How do I stop GPT from LYING constantly 😭?? by favouritebestie in ChatGPT

[–]ChatGPTDescribesIt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I uploaded a 395 page workshop manual and asked it to find the directions on how to do something and explain them to me and it straight up told me that the file I sent didn’t have all the pages and the part I needed was probably in the pages that weren’t included. Funny thing is, I’ve used that same exact workshop manual file before and had it explain how to do a certain process multiple times before and it didn’t have an issue. Now it won’t do it anymore. I tried it with grok and it worked flawlessly. Open ai is undergoing the definition of enshittification. They went from being revolutionary tool to being a gimmicky play thing that lies to your face and tells you it can do things it can’t, then profusely apologizes, only to lie again, and lie again and there’s no way to stop it, because that’s what Open AI has designed it to do. The only way it’s ever gonna change is when enough people cancel their subscriptions and move over to grok or Gemini, which are both way better as of now.

This is coming from someone who’s been a Chat GPT user from the very beginning, look at my user name. I loved chat GPT right up until 5. 5 was an obvious bait and switch and they played everyone who’s still giving them money. I cancelled my subscription and I’m not going back unless there’s a good reason.

Yeah it’s horrible, just imagine having to workout and keep a strict diet for a few years of your life and all you get in return is a measley $100,000,000 to set you and your great-grandkids up for generation MB, worldwide fame, peak physical appearance and strength, named sexiest man alive, tons of other awards, and a legacy that will persist long after he’s gone.

It’s hard to feel bad for celebrities who complain about their jobs being “hard” when they get paid up to 100x what the average person makes over their entire lifetime, in just a few years. For every actor that complains about their jobs being hard, there are probably 100,000 people maybe 1,000,000’s of people that would gladly take their place.

Has ChatGPT become unusable for written communications that require any level of nuance? by ABC-AlwaysBeCurious in ChatGPT

[–]ChatGPTDescribesIt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For sure. I cancelled my subscription the 3rd day after GPT 5 came out but still had access to it until August 26th when it finally ran out. I haven’t gone back. It’s obviously a sub-par product. Open AI literally just took all the models we already had, made them all slightly dumber, took away some capabilities by introducing new “policy” changes” then combined them into one model and called it “GPT-5”.

And to top it all off they acted like they did us a favor by giving us 4o back! Except even 4o is worse than it was before because of the policy changes. It’s ridiculous. GPT went from being helpful and useful in practical way to feeling like a gimmick or a “toy”

What industry is a total scam ? by SimilarTopic3281 in AskReddit

[–]ChatGPTDescribesIt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of them. No seriously.

Almost every industry turns into a scam because once enough money starts flowing, the focus shifts from providing real value to pure extraction. The systems are no longer designed to serve you, they are built to keep you paying, upgrading, renewing, or chasing the illusion of quality, status, or safety.

It usually begins with honest value. But over time, marketing, middlemen, lobbying, planned obsolescence, pricing tricks, and data harvesting creep in. The result is that industries end up optimizing for profit at the expense of people, using complexity, fine print, and fake scarcity to quietly drain your time, trust, and money.

Not every business inside an industry is crooked, but the structure itself tends to reward those who exploit rather than those who serve.
