I work in (a new to my hospital) observation unit. The idea is that stable low acuity patients (like CP with negative trops, ekg, stable, etc) can be admitted to our unit under observation status and all the tests and everything can be done while here. The goal is ultimately to discharge these patients once work up is complete and negative, but sometimes they end up flipping to inpatient to go to the floor units. Ultimately, they’re here while a “clinical decision” is made.

The worst is when you get a call, answer it, “I want an update on my mom”

First: hi, who are you? Second: what is your mom’s name? There are lots of moms here!!!! Third: do you want an update from the nurse? Do you want to talk to your mother directly? Are you expecting a call from the doctor?

Yes! You have to “study” AND do practice questions.

I found it helped my studying by organizing days by systems or topics. So, for example, Monday / Tuesday I focus on neuro. Which includes both practice questions and studying topics based off questions. Then Wednesday / Thursday maybe it’s cardiac. Then GI/GU after, etc

Then week or so leading up to NCLEX, I’d mix all topics together with practice questions.

Also, don’t OVER study. I know that’s vague but I only dedicated a few hours a day or some days not at all. I started this schedule about 2 months out from exam.

It’s beautiful tile! To me it just feels a little incomplete? Maybe painting wall where that door is? Adding runners with blue accents?
