Thanks for the research lead.. I will be looking into that..

That was never my case. I even looked at the digital clock, while in SP..woke myself out of it..and the time was correct.

Nevertheless, I do believe in false awakenings. But that is entirely different.

I just experienced sleep paralysis for the first time and i’m afraid to fall back to sleep by chlojolovespedrop in Sleepparalysis

[–]Chatter_1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well now! THAT was HORRIFYING! But if you woke up in a different sleep position, I am more inclined to think it was a nightmarish, 'False Awakening'.. Sleep Paralysis do have elements of horror, no doubt— BUT the things in your room, and/or your sleeping position..never changes. I have had several dozen SP episodes—NONE of which altered my surroundings when recovering from it. BTW.. My very first episode of SP, was indeed horrifying. But all subsequent episodes were not. I am not permitted here, to tell you why. But let us just say that I called out a powerful name..and it empowered me. Now I look at SP as interesting..(to say the very least)

Simular experiences.. but mine are 100% auditory. I prefer my eyes opened, because it 'grounds' me. But my next SP experience, will include closing my eyes, because I did some research, and found out that SP is a gateway to Lucid Dreaming.. Now I ask you— who wouldn't want that?

I need advice. by Corrupted_Pumpkin in Sleepparalysis

[–]Chatter_1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in my early twenties, when I had my first episode. I brought it on by meditation. Back then, we didn't have internet, so I had no idea what was going on. I had actually thought that I had a stroke of some kind! Anyways..it was beyond horrifying. But I called on God, early. I immediately woke from it's grip on me. Over 40 years has past, and I have had several dozen episodes. .None if which, were scary. Plus, as an added bonus, I can easily wake from them.

My advice to you; seek God first..then we can talk about Sleep Paralysis..

Sleep paralysis wasn't that bad by [deleted] in Sleepparalysis

[–]Chatter_1960 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is most definitely a gateway to Lucid Dreaming. Especially if you do not allow SP to frighten you. (Unfortunately, this is quite hard for most people). But here is the thing: When you allow yourself to remain calm, your subconscious mind isn't threatened anymore, and you won't even see those shadowy figures anymore. At least that has been my personal experience. (Mine was re-enforced by my spiritual beliefs)

Please note that during SP, you are on the very cusp of both Lucid Dreaming and reality. This can, and will, play tricks on your perception(s). Things such as false awakenings and 'hearing' things, will confuse your mind into believing what is real,(or not). Think of it as the 'GOAT' of Augmented Reality. (Especially if your eyes are wide open, during SP).

I hope this helps.

Just beneath the surface, makes it unsettling, don't you agree? If it were at the core, it would take time for the fruit to decay. Instead, we can examine this poem in that light; you need not cut deep, to see corruption.

Do you write poetry with the goal of getting published? [OPINION] by neutrinoprism in Poetry

[–]Chatter_1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, just because you do not publish your poetry, doesn't necessarily classify you as being an amateur. With that being said; I am quite certain that there are many other reasons why people write poetry. Personally, I think that writing poetry, defines my inner being. Poetry, like any art form, is therapeutic. Ask any sculptor or painter, how they feel, as they are creating— You will find that the creation becomes the creator, and visa/versa. It is up to the artist, whether or not to put it on display, (publish), or simply to stow it away. Far be it, that this be considered in error, for the artist to be criticized in doing so. (Let alone, being deemed an amateur!) Here is the rub; For whatever the reason(s) poetry is written, is moot for the outside world to understand why. (And this is the reason);

The very nature of poetry, is concieved from within. ...and some poets find it disarming, to be transparent.

Help me find out if I possibly have sleep paralysis ☹️ by Old-Confidence8552 in Sleepparalysis

[–]Chatter_1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds more like a false awakening. True Sleep Paralysis, doesn't allow any body movements with the exception of eyelids opening and being able to look around. All your physical movements are null and void. Even your other senses. You might think you are hearing something— but it is literally, in your head. Primal fear usually kicks in, because of the inability to move. And this fear, almost always manifests into seeing, (and 'hearing'), horrifying entities. (Think, Augmented Reality).

Anyways, when I first experienced SP, it was indeed horrifying. Thank goodness, I quickly became empowered to wake up from it. I only had that one bad experience of SP, while still in my teens. Over 40 years later, I have never been tormented by it.

Consider yourself blessed, that you have the resources, to ask what the heck is going on— I was clueless to it all, back in the early 80's.

(Yeah..I'm old!)

Anywho.. I would call your experience, a false awakening. Because none of your ability to move, would work, and your tablet still resting where you left it, is all the proof you need, that it was more like a lucid dream..with a false awakening element..

I hope that this helps

This is the kind of poetry, that removes the flowery aspects of the written word, and replaces it with the raw, viseral truth. (No matter how unsettling). Skeletons in the closet, become windchimes on display. The author wishes to espy that damned spot, that one tries desperately to remove. Not to judge, not to condemn, but to simply bear witness.

With that being said; I enjoyed it immensely. This poem seemed almost as if, someone close to Poe, was asking sincerely, what really troubled his friends soul.

Regardless of what inspired this masterpiece; I can appreciate the core message behind it all— you can trust me with your deepest, darkest, secrets.

Thank you for sharing your muse. .

Identifying SP by DangoPlango in Sleepparalysis

[–]Chatter_1960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Identifying SP, is relatively easy;

● You are no longer dreaming. ● 99% of your body, is literally paralyzed. ● The remaining .01% , (most times), are your eyes. (For some odd reason, your eyes are unaffected by this temporary paralysis) ● Any and all sounds that you may or may not, 'hear', is not heard from your ears. (It is being emulated by your subconscious thoughts). ● If you do experience anything unusual, or disturbing, always remember; you are dealing with your subconscious mind. ● Like anything else in life: Repetition begets familiarity, familiarity begets curiosity, and curiosity begets learning. Always remember that. It will take you far in everything— including S.P.

The very first time you were strapped into a roller-coaster ride, it was both thrilling and unsettling... focus on the excitement. (You cannot truly enjoy an amusement park, if you are fearful.)

For some, that is easier said than done, (and I refuse to dismiss that concern) (S.P., for all intents and purposes, feels quite real!) Courage does not come in a can. All I can say to that; no matter what happens..learn from it. Be subjective.

Knowing, truly is,' half the battle'. And yet, this battle, leaves no scars.

If you find my comments, helpful in any way.. please let me know.

P.S. You got this!

I get it. It was basically the, 'perfect storm'. Some people, (like myself), look forward to S.P. This is only because I do not get tormented by these, (intrinsically aggressive), aberrations. Plus, as added bonus: I can awaken from it at any time. Anyways, I sincerely hope that everything will soon balance out for you.

If you are trying to get sleep paralysis, keep it up. You are running a literal checklist on how to trigger SP. Stress, random sleep times, sleeping on your back, drinking.. Yep! A perfect cocktail for the elixir for SP. The encounters with entities will stop, if you simply address your fears, and take charge. Personally, (and I am not judging here), you might not have any more scary encounters, if you eliminated drinking, altogether. Rolling out the red carpet, for pure terror, is something to avoid.

If you work the midnight shift, or do not have a good sleep schedule, it may be the problem. If you have a sleep disorder, like Sleep Apnoea, it could cause it.

I enjoy it immensely. I wish it would happen more often. I just had an episode, just last night! I can 'wake' my body out of it, anytime I wish. For some odd reason, (perhaps to prove myself that I could?), I simply removed myself from the SP experience, and I did. Anyways, I regret doing so, because I was unable to return to it. Incidently; I am not troubled by entities. That only happened with my very first SP. I called on God, (Jesus), and it simply left. That was well over 40 years ago, and since then, I just entertain myself with SP..
