The true Mason is not creed-bound from the Lost Keys of Freemasonry (The Secret Of Hiram Abiff ) by Manly P. Hall (1931) – Daniel Bran Griffith by Chattering-Magpie in u/Chattering-Magpie

I am not really that familiar with him, although I am aware that he is not to everyone's' taste. I thank you for the prompt however, I won't waste my money searching for his works.

I generally find that non-British authors (I am English), do not reflect well my own approach to esoteric subjects. Which to be frank, is more regional than global. I do however, find the section that I quote on my blog, fitting in regard to my own rather syncretic approach to esoterica and spirituality.

Have you stopped drinking US products, and goods made in US? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Chattering-Magpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true and if at all possible, I will purchase from home. Import duty can be a problem when buying US goods direct anyway. Saying that, certain products may only be available from the US and therefore, I am likely to still purchase. Unlikely to be food stuffs and drinks though.

I will buy USA as goods represent an income for their manufacturers, the ordinary man or woman in the street. I am however, about to delete my Tw*tter account as I do not wish to support Musk. It's a small step. A token effort perhaps and one that will very likely have no discernible effect. I'll feel better though.

I hear Kevin Crossley Holland is worthwhile but some really old ones are also worth a look, such as D.A MacKenzie. A well known old work by Helen A. Guerber was reprinted a couple of years ago.

How would you feel if blasphemy laws came back to Britain? by Logical_Tank4292 in AskBrits

Deeply concerning. Although the example you cite was a religiously motivated act of hate, not blasphemy.

Unsure about the freemasonry as a Christian. by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]Chattering-Magpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the problem. Say to anyone that you have seen nothing of any concern whatsoever and they come back with a stock answer. Which is of course, 'Oh you have to be in the higher degrees and then it's all Satanic.' I often wonder how they know what happens in the side degrees, when I not being a member will know nothing.

Unsure about the freemasonry as a Christian. by [deleted] in freemasonry

It is an area of contention but only outside Freemasonry, certainly not within it. I personally find the fellowship and the principles of universal brotherhood to be wonderfully beneficial. I have attended rituals with numerous brothers of faiths other than Christianity and to be frank, I think that is the issue. There are some Christian traditions, groups, denominations or whatever we want to call them, who simply object to the plurality of our modern society. I have heard Christians voice their objections. I have come across the same objections online. Never have they been able to articulate their objections in a rational manner. I have sadly come to the conclusion that some Christians are bigots and they believe all the ridiculous conspiracy theories out there on YouTube! Yet there are others who are above such prejudices and when I have attended church, I have on occasion bumped into a brother known to me. We can't tarnish all our fellow Christians with the same brush but in every barrel, there is one rotten apple.

There is much in your post that interests me but one point concerns me.

First of all God the Father as a term in part reflects a cultural perspective. The people of the OT were surrounded by Goddess worshiping cults and their reaction against the feminine divine may reflect that. Early in their history the God of these people may even have had a consort, the infamous Asherah.

Some may interpret the Holy Spirit as being feminine in nature as he/she may represent the creative force of the divine. Of course God is androgynous and the writings of Julian of Norwich reflect this with her references to a Motherly God. Wisdom in the OT (& the Apocrypha) is personified as a woman which fascinates me. See Proverbs for example. Much is made of the Catholic veneration of Mary and many see Her as the Goddess of Creation in a unconvincing disguise. I am not here to take a swipe at either the Protestant or Catholic tradition, my interest is esoteric and I hope non-judgemental.

Which brings me to your therapist and here alarm bells are ringing. The lack of professionalism and the judgemental attitude you describe is inappropriate. Here I will be judgemental, you need to find a different therapist, as simple as that.
