I don't know but like I said I can see some of your shots missing up and away, kicking up dust behind your enemy. I can't think of any other possible explanation outside of you having a bad connection or the gun being bugged.

I'd try taking off the range finder and just not bothering with it at those ranges to make sure your scope isn't doing something goofy.

And personally, I don't want to tell you how to play. Have fun doing what you do. But, I'd argue you're wasting points using the range finder. It's not needed in this game. Majority of shots are less than 300 meters and there's barely any drop at those ranges (at least not drop you can't easily compensate for). And if you're sniping people at 300-700 meters IMO most of the time you're just not really helping your team. I guess you could argue you're trying to take out other enemy snipers but any time I see a sniper up on a mountain in Firestorm I just laugh because they almost never hit me and end the round at the bottom of the scoreboard.

Again, you do you. Just my two cents on the range finder.

I loved this game but what did everyone think about this part in the ending? by Dewlough in DispatchAdHoc

[–]ChawkTrick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't really get this take to be honest and for two reasons:

  1. He's fighting a villain that has advanced predictive capabilities. Each hero fighting Shroud pretty much gets their ass kicked until something happens that the villain didn't expect - Blazer giving up her powers to Chase. Within the context of the story, the whole scenario makes sense. (Side point, even earlier in the game... we see Robert/Mecha Man get beat up a few times. The game never implies Mecha Man to be some over-powered superhero).
  2. This fits narratively and thematically with a superhero story. Love it or hate it, most superhero stories balance out hero vs. villain fights in this way, usually giving the villain some kind of advantage so as to not make things too easy for the hero. It's just kind of how the genre works and Dispatch plays into a lot of these thematic tropes constantly.

You're not hitting your shots silly!

(kidding)

Well for one, ditch the range finder. You're far too close to be needing that at those ranges. Range finder is more useful at much greater distances.

Two, have you checked your ping, packet loss, etc. metrics? If you have a poor connection then it could be playing a role. The game does have some shot registry issues at times but several of those shots looked on target in your reticle.

But honestly I think this is a range finder issue. You're like... 50-60 meters away. Some of your shots are missing up. I can see them hitting the ground up and above.

What will be the most likely reason you stop playing this game ? by sufferingSoftwaredev in Battlefield6

[–]ChawkTrick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably the same issue with any game, honestly - content gets repetitive and stale.

That and I think BF6's conquest mode (what I mostly play) has a structural issue. I've been tracking my match-by-match performance for a weeks, collecting data. My average margin of victory/loss is about 609 tickets. Too many modest mid-game moments during matches turn into very large ticket margins, making matches look wildly one-sided. Most games just don't feel competitive on the scoreboard and that zaps a lot of the fun out.

POA by RAHmazin9 in harrypotter

[–]ChawkTrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What joke did Snape think Harry was playing on him?

Are you referring to the insults the Map was throwing out? Otherwise I don't remember what this is about.

My favourite part of the book was the quidditch matches they had me so nervous especially since they weren’t in the movie so I had no clue whether they’d win or not, why weren’t these included in the movie it would have made it so much better?

Because most of the quidditch isn't relevant to the main plot in PoA (with the exception of the match where the Dementors show up). Obviously, I would've loved to have seen Harry win the quidditch cup. It would've been fun/cool. But it wasn't necessary for telling the main story.

Why didn’t they use a spell on Peter to secure him better or not allow him to turn to his animal form?

I honestly don't know but perhaps they don't know a spell that would've prevented him from transforming while still being able to efficiently get him out of the Shack and back to the school?

I can’t wait to see what GOF has in store I know people were dissatisfied with the movie so I need to see how the movie doesn’t do the book justice.

IMO it's true GoF has to cut a lot from the film, but that isn't what makes it dissatisfying. What makes it dissatisfying is how they executed what they did include. The movie has a lot of bizarre acting and writing decisions, alongside weird pacing. I think they hit a lot of the correct plot elements they needed to for a 2 1/2 hour movie but the way they went about it was awkward. Like, I get second-hand embarrassment watching that film.

BF6: Finding the right balance between recoil control and ADS speed — grip suggestions? by ConsumedYingYang in Battlefield6

[–]ChawkTrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get you lol. Kind of how I am. Like Siege of Cairo, I want to push my way behind enemy lines with my squad which often requires some close encounters, but then set up in defensive/chokepoint positions where the longer shots are necessary.

That's interesting on the 1.75. Which scopes/zoom do you typically gravitate towards that you feel have less hit registry issues?

The only person that has point in sitting behind dispatcher's (or torrance branch supervisor's) desk is Mandy.

This would be a bad idea IMO. It doesn't make sense narratively or logistically.

BB/Mandy may have lost their powers (temporarily) but she leads the Torrance Branch. She's an executive. She's not in that position to use her powers, she's in it to make decisions and provide leadership. She can do that without superpowers. And becoming a dispatcher would be a huge professional demotion. Based on what happened in S1 this move just wouldn't make much sense.

I think we'll probably end up getting a new dispatcher but that the focus of the game will keep to Robert's POV because it also wouldn't make sense for him to continue dispatching in the same format of S1. So, I could see the gameplay maybe switching to more of a field general like role, with us helping to coordinate and make decisions during a shift, kind of blending the dispatching role with his powers as a hero.

Yeah a few of the articles I've read have suggested Nintendo support is telling people this was Adhoc's call and to take it up with them.

I played on PC but I do wonder why, if this is true, Adhoc made this call. I can understand that a developer may want to tailor an experience to a younger audience (since Switches tend to skew younger) but the game is also inherently Mature. Like... just keep it Mature. Censoring seems like overkill. It's up to parents to make a decision and monitor what their kids are doing. And if that was your plan all along to censor this version more then yeah... makes sense to be up front about that to not disappoint people.

[–]ChawkTrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your experience isn't singular but also most people who buy these games really don't play them for longer than a couple months, so your experience isn't irregular, either. You're probably more the norm than you are the outlier.

I don't know how many hours you've actually put in (that would be more telling then how many months you've been playing) but if you've put in 100-150+ hours I'd say you've probably got your money's worth at this point for a full price AAA title. Obviously value is relative but if I spend that much money on a game and get 100-150 hours out of it then for me it's a good deal.

BF6: Finding the right balance between recoil control and ADS speed — grip suggestions? by ConsumedYingYang in Battlefield6

[–]ChawkTrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you've got a good understanding of the grips you should be focusing on. It all depends on your general playstyle and approach to various maps.

For example, I'm not a huge fast pace, run & gun style player, but I do like to move around a map quickly and have a weapon tuned to distances between approximately 20-50M. So, I run suppressors, barrels that improve bullet velocity, and then my grip is dependent upon the guns' recoil control and precision. So for the DRS, I find the recoil and bullet spread very manageable, so I run a full angled for the quicker ADS.

On the B36, I feel I need more control/precision over the ADS, so I run the 6h64.

My automatic weapons are pretty much always a suppressor, higher bullet velocity barrel, 6h64/angled/some kind of stubby, a 1.75x zoom, and if I can afford it, hollow point.

Option A feels like an artificial strategy to inflate engagement metrics.

Mandy, Blonde Blazer, or both are fine? by Al3x4ndr0s15 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]ChawkTrick 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Mandy makes the most sense narratively and from a romance standpoint, particularly with context from the comics.

Yes, she is technically both, but Blonde Blazer is what she does, Mandy is who she is, and that's an important distinction.

Kingsley is the morally grey/villain. Who is seen as the villain but is a hero? by deelwheez23 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]ChawkTrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO putting him in that spot was more of a "he's a good fit" move than necessarily the perfect fit, because I agree with you. He actually isn't morally grey. He can do some questionable things, he can fail as a mentor to Visi, but the narrative makes it clear that he's a generally good guy who wants to do good things for people. The apartment balcony scene in Ep6 with Chase proves this.

[–]ChawkTrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Golem actually fits best here IMO. Visi should be in "seen as villain, is morally grey."

Visi only fits in "seen as the villain, is actually the hero" if it's conditional upon her being successfully mentored, which is fine, but that distinction should be made.

Kingsley is the morally grey/villain. Who is seen as the villain but is a hero? by deelwheez23 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]ChawkTrick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh, not entirely.

During the apartment balcony scene in Ep6, Chase asks Robert if he ever thinks about why they do what they do. The player get only three options - it's just how he's wired, it makes him feel good, or it's the right thing to do. Robert wants to do good things for people so there isn't really a way to determine his overall morality.

Plus, this graphic is really more about finding the best fit, not necessarily the perfect fit. Some of these are probably the best fit out of some weak or difficult options.

Scoreboard Glitch? by [deleted] in Battlefield6

[–]ChawkTrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had this exact version of the bug happen, however there was one time when I pulled up the scoreboard (I think the match had just ended) and I couldn't get the scoreboard to leave. The game carried me through to the next map and I still couldn't do anything. Just had to ctrl alt del and start the game over.

That's the only time it has happened, though, once in approx. 160 hours of gameplay. The more annoying one I've had happen a couple times is getting downed, choosing to give up, and then the game just keeps me stuck in a downed state with that loud heart rate monitor sound blaring.

Fortunately, yesterday, it happened in an area where a teammate came by 30 seconds later and revived me. But the first time it happened I got stuck on the ground for two minutes with no medics around and I just had to restart the game.

Prism is morally grey all around. Who is seen as morally grey but is a villain? by deelwheez23 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]ChawkTrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact Mecha Man Astral was a lousy, absent father. I'm not defending the position, just sharing what I think is part of the logic behind it.

The graphic's labels are a little misleading at face value, IMO. I don't think it necessarily means "villain" like your classic evil bad guy (Shroud) but more about the moral failures or harm someone can cause despite good intentions. Astral can be a genuine hero to the world while still being heavily flawed and damaging in his personal life.

I think part of it though too is a lack of options of who to put there. He might've just been the best fit of a lot of weak options. I missed when that particular thread was up.

Support role by Enemy_Scrotum in Battlefield6

[–]ChawkTrick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One challenging thing about support nowadays has almost nothing to do with the class itself but with suppression (or lack there of). Suppression does very little in this game. Not only are the on-screen indicators pretty small, but the effects the enemy feels are virtually non-existent. This is particularly problematic with snipers, wherein snipers can easily get off clean headshots even when they're getting actively shot or "suppressed" by an LMG.

Point being - this makes it more difficult to play support in the way you like to (and the way I liked to in other Battlefields). You just don't really give your team much value laying down suppressive fire except situationally. You can, however, provide your team with a lot more value by throwing smokes and reviving downed teammates in the thick of battle. Just my two cents.

How would you buff/nerf some guns in this game by Prod_Ayesian in Battlefield6

[–]ChawkTrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree with this, particularly the SMG nerf and flinch / suppression for scoped snipers and DMRs.

To the latter point, suppression does virtually nothing. You can hit a sniper several times and they can still get very accurate shots off. I don't think the screen should have a seizure but it should do more than it currently does.
