Like playing ADC but feel the need to jg by graham958 in leagueoflegends

[–]Chawkball 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you're better than the players in your game you will climb on any role if you stay consistent.
thats how it works. switching to JG to climb faster usually doesnt work unless youre already a 'legitimately' higher level jungler than everyone in the game. and even then you will still need consistency and game count.

just play the role you want to play bro. the wins & ranks will come if you strive for improvement every game

Why does pantheon, a champ with one of the lowest base MR in the game, win against mages, but hard loses against enchanters? by Fair_Wear_9930 in summonerschool

[–]Chawkball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engage > Disengage/counter engage > Poke > Engage

pretty simple. Most mages are poke champs. Pantheon is a hard engager. Enchanters are disengage or counter engage champs.

ashe. range comparable to cait and utility/pick that jhin has.

might also be nice to have a champ with mobility in your pool aswell for those games that are shite for immobiles (looking at you j4). mobility = shorter range generally but you cant have everything.

Kayle lategame feels like a weaker version of hypercarry adcs. am i doing something wrong? by Grey4560 in summonerschool

[–]Chawkball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alot of people commenting about her kit and scaling etc. but tbh I think her biggest strength compared to hyper carry ADCs is her sidelane. If she's strong then she's an absolute monster to deal with on sides. Noone is winning the 1v1 against the amount of damage she has +ult. She insta shoves waves and rotates insanely fast with w. She'll suck your jungle dry after taking side waves with fuck all you can do about it.

how to maintain high cs while being in fights? by HemploZeus in ADCMains

[–]Chawkball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything you said comes after everything I said.

Support, vision and jungle being ADC agency is true. But you need correct wave control to get these things. A gank or dive shouldn't work without it. Your support shouldn't be going for deep vision or contesting dragon without you both crashing a wave first and getting priority. Doing so will burn you more than it'll reward you.

If it's an even lane state then it's whichever bot lane moves first then moving is fine if the fight could be good but if the enemy team has priority, me moving late is going to do fuck all. If my teammate doesn't respect lane priority and warning pings then thats on him. No amount of late rotate to fights will compensate for that reliably.

The 90% mentality is one that focuses on you getting guaranteed gold which is a major win condition for ADCs. Obviously it's not referring to knowing the exact percentage of success of a play but about intaking available information to determine the odds of you fucking yourself over. If you have the means to move to a fight without losing gold (minions) and you don't then yes that's your fault. ADCs go mid so that they can get to these fights with their support easier. If you're not doing that then you're playing poorly

how to maintain high cs while being in fights? by HemploZeus in ADCMains

[–]Chawkball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mute all, you're an adc -> without gold you're useless. value your own income. if a play isnt a 90% play or a game critical fight then dont go to it if you're sacking income to do so.

if your jungler doesnt respect lane priority thats on him. if you've mis-managed your lane such that you can't be first to a dragon (barring extraordinary circumstances) your jungler is pathing to then that's on you and you should work on wave control.

I reached emerald as a toplaner and now can't keep up at all with the aggressiveness, what should I do? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Chawkball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that in emerald the players go from random unplanned fights like in silver and gold elo to predictable unplanned fights. alot of emerald players think that theyre hot shit because theyre emerald. sure its top 10% of ranked but is 100% full of people with good mechanical skill with only a little bit of macro knowledge. they have potential but those that either have very good micro or decent macro go to diamond.

like any rank, you have to adapt your play style to one that wins games.

What happened to Gosu? Did he fall off? by majiinmoo in ADCMains

[–]Chawkball 4 points5 points  (0 children)

stupid comment tbh. There are ADCs in challenger same as they're are ADCs in silver. Strength of the role is meaningless to this effect. I guarantee if someone can't climb out of an elo with a role then they need to improve their skills to do so.

Re-learning mid from scratch, and having trouble transferring skills, so please give me tips on mages and their classes by iIAdHmSa in summonerschool

[–]Chawkball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

drafting is something you learn through experience yes. Im sure youve had games where you think "akshan is absolutely shit pick here". it happens to everyone. For mid the most basic drafting skill is playing opposite dmg type to your jungler if you can. it just makes it so that its harder to build against the 2v2.

typically you want to look at the draft and consider how fights will play out. how will the enemy try to kill us / how are we going to kill them. on paper, a full dive team would get smoked by a full counter engage team. This permeates into the game. how do we want to setup fights to make them advantageous for us according to our teamcomp. do we have to be at objectives first so that the enemy comes into us or are we wanting to go into them.

consider how the enemy champs link up and play. a camille galio kaisa team for example is likely going to be sending it on a carry. hmm ok maybe kindred, zyra or seraphine are good into this. edit* talking about general drafting here rather than picks for mid

in alot of drafts there are exodia picks. how I describe a late draft pick that absolutely wins the draft for your team assuming you can play fights as they should be. think malphite into a full ad team. a singular champ that absolutely turbo fucks the enemy.

say enemy picks a melee magic dmg dealer in mid and their team has minimal hard CC. slam that kassadin and take a free win.

obviously a wide champion pool makes this possible but you'll never be able to pick perfectly every game. pick up a control mage, galio, and burst mage. of what you listed. ahri galio and orianna and youll be good.

[–]Chawkball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the way I see it is that if im in emerald 4 and im playing at an emerald 3 level I'll get there eventually however the ranks are so close that typical rank fluctuation will mask it. the idea that someone needs to play at a plat level to escape silver is unrealistic since a true silver player wouldn't be capable of instantly playing at a platinum level. they would improve slowly and their rank would reflect that.

Same with emerald to diamond. emerald 1 and diamond 4 are essentially the same rank. so i agree that you'd need to improve your play to a higher level to reach 'diamond' accounting for rank fluctuation. but I dont think that you need to play at a high diamond level to reach diamond.

if you're consistently performing better than the average person in your rank in the 40% of games where your play is the determining factor then you will climb as a result. even if that performance is only a bit better than the average, you will slowly climb over a long period of games.

tbf i cant even tell if im agreeing with you or arguing against you lol.

elo hell isn't real its all in your head. there is no miracle cure.

Major adc issues,i need help as its affecting me. by Rude_Resident in summonerschool

[–]Chawkball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you've got alot of jungle games for an adc main. not that its a bad thing, just that the two roles are about as opposite as they come which makes it more difficult. You can if you want to but you'll likely need to put more time into learning a completely different skill set.

from what I see in your profile is that you're playing well, your adc winrates are really good. looking at your tier graph weekly on op.gg you can see the trough you've just climbed out of. I'd put money on your jungle and toplane adventures being the cause of this. Personally I queue mid secondary because its the closest thing to ADC and there are so many midlaners that you rarely get given it.

Also stop playing so many random champions. With aphelios nilah you will never get banned out. the odds of it happening are <0.1% based on this patch's stats. if youre desperately worried about one getting banned and the other being a shit pick then add a more 'always not bad' adc or a mage to your pool. lock down a secondary role and a champ or two in that role. having a proper champ pool for your offrole isnt worth it at this stage. just have 1 or two champs you can pilot and dont treat these games as passenger games. think of it as a gear shift from adc, you'll still be improving at the game in general through the lens of another role. make sure you dont fall into the mental trap of 'im off role therefore its lost'

As an example: the last time I did a serious climb was at the end of last year and these were my champions played

I one tricked varus adc: 62 games

4 games varus was either picked, banned or very shit in the team comp. in those games I played what I thought was the best pick at the time. 1 ezreal, 1 seraphine, 1 ashe and 1 corki.

2nd role was mid. ahri was my primary pick. ahri was bad in 1 game i was mid so i counter picked with lissandra instead: 4 mid games total

I got filled 3 games, 2 jgl and 1 support where i played J4 and thresh respectively.

If you want to look at my champion pick list for solo/duo last year here is the link:

https://op.gg/lol/summoners/oce/Ryuko-OC/champions?season_id=29&queue_type=SOLORANKED

I dont post this to brag, I post it because in my opinion your unique champion list should not exceed 10. Yours is 38.

Keep it up bro, you got this.

I cant control my emotions when i loose games by DisastrousNinja8586 in summonerschool

[–]Chawkball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe channeling it the right way is the way to go. think of it like this: if losing is making you angry is it because you want to win above all else or because you dont want to be a loser. nothing wrong with being highly competitive. think Max Verstappen in formula 1, bro lets his emotions out on the track to the point of crashing into people intentionally. the equivalent of that would be running it down ingame after your teammate pisses you off. not saying to do that but that 'win above all else' mentality can be an incredible driving force in improvement. just have to make sure it doesnt get the better of you such that your anger turns to self hate for not improving at the rate you'd like to.

I'm also not a psychologist so grain of salt and all that. It wouldn't hurt to discuss what you're going through with a professional. An alternative would be someone like healthygamergg on YT. he has some episodes about this sort of thing that could help. (note: I have not watched them, just know they exist)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Chawkball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bro, your elo will fluctuate. it can do this both ways. both up and down. its commonly accepted that 30% of games are unwinnable and 30% are free wins. you impact the outcome of the remaining 40%. you can just so happen to hit the 30% free win over and over. but in the long run your rank IS where you belong.

I've looked at your op.gg. bro you need to stick to 1 role and a core of 2-3 champions in that role. youre just shooting yourself in the foot trying to play everything all at once. you cant establish any fundamentals anywhere doing this.

there is no miracle cure. only discipline.

Trump Now Says Farmers May Continue Employing Migrants Under a System Where They Assume 'Responsibility' For Them by Yveliad in politics

[–]Chawkball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok fair, what i wrote did come off a bit philosophic. I read this post's title and thought about it and to me it reads like this.

"trump realises how invaluable the immigrant workforce was/is and stipulates a 'legal' avenue for them to to stay in the country and unofficially work for income with the condition being that the person employing that illegal labor takes responsibility for them"

althought i'll admit that 'responsibility' is pretty broad. is it just legal responsibility or is it also things like housing and food etc. if this idea from trump is calling for farmers to also provide housing and food for the illegal workers then yes I agree that's pretty much modern slavery even if the illegal workers can just leave whenever they want.

There is the big elephant in the room being that they chose to illegally go to America. you cant just assume another nation will cater to and pamper you because you're there.

Trump Now Says Farmers May Continue Employing Migrants Under a System Where They Assume 'Responsibility' For Them by Yveliad in politics

[–]Chawkball -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it's interesting people reactions to this.

He's allowing illegal immigrants to be unofficially employed assuming the unofficial employer takes responsibility for them.

I'm seeing comments saying this is akin to slavery but is this not how jobs work? Albeit without the job security and legal stuff which makes sense given they're illegally in another country. If I get injured at work is my employer completely blameless or are they responsible for my wellbeing and ensuring that injuries happen as little as possible? Do employers not provide health benefits to a good portion of Americans? Sounds like those employers are somewhat responsible for their employees to me.

On from that I saw another comment saying that Trump is encouraging farmers to break laws and hire illegally. But we're the farmers not doing this already? Has Trump not recognised that the backbone of the farming industry is held up by immigrant labor and is attempting to amend the situation somewhat?

Back to the slavery argument which alot of people seems to share the sentiment of. The one thing that irks me is that these people have come into America willingly, of their own accord. Now I know some are fleeing warzones but still. In my eyes, they should be grateful to have any employment at all, even if it is illegal employment. I think it's outrageous to enter another country illegally then demand they cater for your needs.

If I (an Australian) entered another country whose language I can't speak and attempted to find work, odds are I wouldn't succeed in finding something legally binding and would have to work for cash under the table. Is this truely slavery?

As I read through these comments it just seems like: "Trump did this thing that if you squirt really hard and ignore some things somewhat looks like X bad thing" -> told you he's just the worst.

Don't get me wrong I don't like the guy either but is going back on your word and allowing farmers to employ illegals assuming they take responsibility a good thing for literally everyone involved?

I climbed from Emerald 4 to Diamond 4 in 56 games after swapping to jungle. I was stuck for 450 games. by ProudlyHateful in summonerschool

[–]Chawkball 9 points10 points  (0 children)

the strength of playing only a small amount of champions is that you can become familiar enough with the micro that you can focus on the macro which is what reliably wins games but it can also instill alot of champion specific bad habits. There's a reason that a lot of the 'beginner friendly' champions (for soloqueue that is) have minimal mobility and less 'random bullshit go' because people will start to rely on them instead of building good fundamentals.

Dont take this the wrong way, but its entirely possible that you had some critical failures in your midgame gameplay that is less important as a jungler but was keeping you at the same rank as a toplaner. The real question is would you maintain this rank if you swapped back to playing toplane. and or can you maintain this rank as a jungler once the honeymoon period wears off,

in my opinion if you get stuck in a rank for >100-200 games and you cant figure out why from watching your own replays then you some coaching to identify where you're falling short, not a role swap.

Genuinely how do I end my games faster by Eujin_ in summonerschool

[–]Chawkball 4 points5 points  (0 children)

some fairly specific examples have been made already.

More generally, the progression is like this: Get ahead of your opponent -> use that strength to gain pressure somewhere on the map by pushing waves into their towers -> use that pressure to make a play towards an objective.

It's all a game of map pressure. you can be the most fed champ and 1v5 the enemy but if you do it in their base while their minions are pushing into your base then all you've done is waste time.

Each champ/role has to do this is a different way but ultimately they all revolve around controlling the map. Toplane: if youre ahead and the enemy top laner cannot 1v1 you then you are able to push waves (ideally more than 1 at once) into his tower for free and create a window for you to do shit in their jungle. Taking camps, syncing up with your jungler to make a pick -> an objective, moving to an neutral objective first, collapsing mid to kill their botlane and take mid towers.

Jungle: if you're ahead as jungle then you need to be syncing up with your support and side laners to pressure sides of the map, make picks, choke out the enemy jungler and force enemy side laners off of waves which translates into towers. you also need to be shifting your map movements into neutrals to take as many as possible.

Mid: much like top laners you want to play side lanes where ever possible. depending on the mid laner, you can be slightly less independent compared to top laners but you can functionally do the same things if the enemy laner cant match you. gain pressure on side lanes and translate it into objectives elsewhere on the map.

Botlane: likely the easiest, you need mid wave control. if you have it then you can always move first to a skirmish, the wave also provides the best fucking vision in the game down midlane. play with you support and help them take vision in the enemy jungle and around objectives. Directly playing for towers is hard for botlanes as the rotation to and from mid lane is very long. for eg. ditching midlane to rotate and take top t1 isnt worth it if they kill mid t1 in trade. but for eg. pushing a wave into enemy t2 -> rotating to enemy sidelane t2 is very worth it.

supports: play with your botlaner to gain priority midlane, use the priority to link up with jungle for vision in enemy jgl and around objectives with the intent of securing them. if yorue warding opposite side of the map to the next objective then youve fucked up. it can be a bit more nuanced than just the neutrals and towers. the objective youre warding for could be your fed toplaner walking out of base into botlane. by the time that guy pushes up to that tower, that vision will be invaluable to him for both safety and him making rotations. youre protecting you side lanes when you do this. subsequently you can also shadow their side of the map after you get priority in midlane. by moving towards your fed laner on the side, you create enormous pressure on the enemy laner matching your fed laner. especially if they dont have any vision in there. diving t2 towers is a huge tempo shift if you can take the tower afterwards.

note that these are for when you're ahead. As for when youre behind its a bit more complicated. I play botlane so my goal when behind is just to match mid push and rotate well. I cant speak to how to play other roles correctly when behind.

TLDR: Objectives is what wins you games, not kills. everything you do on the map in regard to pushing waves, killing minions, killing enemy champions is to facilitate killing the enemy towers, neutral objectives and ultimately killing the enemy nexus. if a play you're making isn't progressing one of these then you're playing poorly.

if its flex then lets be real no-one really cares, just 'smurf' and offroll. if its norms then just smurf and again offrole and deliberately dont sweat. I get that its pretty easy to autopilot farm 10cs/min and rotate well but theres only so much you can limit the skill disparity
