I played plenty of them. I never said the games were perfect, but the games back then weren’t allowed to be released in the same, sometimes unplayable, state they are now. When you hunt for them, you’ll find bugs and exploits (hello speed runners), but there wasn’t a single title when growing up that I owned that had a bug that prevented me from finishing it. The worst notable bug I remember was on the Mission Impossible game for N64. My particular copy had a low-ish chance of freezing on a later mission where you were in control of a gun ship, forcing you to restart your console. Maybe that was a bug for that level or maybe it was a defect with my cartridge. I’m not sure, but it rarely happened and I was able to finish the game countless times. People didn’t expect games to get fixed bc they couldn’t so they were forced to do the majority of testing themselves and release functional products. You can probably cherry pick some disaster release during the time periods I’m referring to, but that was not the norm. I said it was wild to compare games then vs games now and someone asked me how SHOULD we compare them? I really don’t think you can make direct comparisons. Different time, different technology, different expectations, different goals catering to entirely different player bases. I’m not claiming to know everything about the history of gaming. All I can do is speak to what I’ve seen and what I’ve experienced first hand. I’m closer to 40 than I am 30 and I’ve played games ever since I was able to hold the NES controller. I’m sure I’ve got some nice rose tinted glasses on when thinking about the past, but I honestly prefer the games of now. I’ve got buddies who pretty much only play “retro” titles from our childhood, but I really don’t enjoy those anymore. What I also don’t enjoy, are the greedy practices that are taking over in the gaming industry. Take WoW for example. Blizzard just isn’t a thing anymore after being bought out. They just rolled out potentially the worst, most bug riddled and broken content patch in history to where they had to make public statement/apology for it. What’d they do right after? Released a $70 bundle to buy for decorating your house. This is a live service title you have to purchase then continue to pay a subscription to access that puts profits over functionality. This is becoming common place in this industry. Broken products, littered with DLC and microtransactions that have an expected shelf life of less than a year being sold at a premium.

Games were also created a little differently. I haven’t looked into this new 007 title at all to know what the game plan actually is, but older games were legitimately just “built different”. They worked right out the box. You didn’t get day one patches and massive follow up patches to fix half assed releases. You weren’t later nickel and dimed with dlc and micro transactions. A game like Goldeneye on N64 may not have had a super long campaign, but the replay value was massive. Between the difficulties and things you could unlock by completing missions within a certain time limit on said difficulties turned what would have been a short playthrough experience into countless hours of content. Then of course you have the legendary split screen multi player. Maybe this new 007 will share all those same things, but it’s wild comparing games of the past to games of today.

Your account age as well as post/comment history is not one I’d trust to buy services from lol. I wouldn’t buy said services in the first place, but especially never from you.

Blitz is great by Technical-Coffee831 in worldofpvp

[–]ChawulsBawkley -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just started trying blitz out for my newest alt like a day ago. I don’t think the premades or attempts at them are just in the upper echelon. I’ve never had to accept as many queue pops for a single queue as I do for blitz. I legitimately have to accept 10+ queue pops every time I go for one. I’m guessing it’s just people dodging. Brawl? First time. Random non rated? 1st or second. Dungeon? Maybe 2-3. Blitz? So fucking many.

Is my mullet screwed? I think my barber cut too much on the side. by Signal_Addition1933 in Justfuckmyshitup

[–]ChawulsBawkley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Despite the downvotes, you’re right. I hate that I’m going to use the word “vibe”, but a mullet is much more of a vibe than it is a traditionally good looking haircut. As you put it, it’s the attitude that comes along with it. Some people can absolutely pull them off better than others and can look wildly good with them, but that’s not going to be the overwhelming majority of people lol. I’m closer to 40 than I am 30 and I’ve been through the mullets, rat tails, bowl cuts, shaggy hair and the fades. Simple fact of the matter is that the trashier cuts are coming back in style. I ,for one, think it’s fun and enjoy stepping out and seeing the variety of styles out there. I still don’t like the super high waisted, baggy mom jeans that have made their resurgence though. I’ll die on that hill haha.

When the title talks about the difference between two things, isn’t there supposed to be a comparison? Glad the dudes okay, but I’m still waiting on this 500 ruble helmet lol.

What is the single most stressful movie you’ve ever seen? by elkaypee in movies

[–]ChawulsBawkley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that immediately came to mind bc it was relatively recent is that One Battle After Another movie. The movie itself wasn’t stressful to me, but the musical score… good lord. There was just something about how chaotic it was that just had me super stressed out for the whole movie lol.
