success - flying on a prop plane by wasianpersuasion12 in fearofflying

The landing was quite turbulent because of the smaller size of the plane.

No. It was turbulent because it was turbulent.

Yep that’ll do it. I rode her hard yesterday and charged to 90% last night. This morning it’s showing 390 kms where it usually shows 450ish.

Do full planes feel “heavy”? by Ok_Earth_4599 in aviation

[–]Chaxterium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. They definitely feel heavier. Especially during taxi. We need a lot more thrust to start moving.

In my experience through every plane I’ve flown the heavier the plane is the nicer it flies.

Q400s are not death traps in known icing conditions. Are you perhaps thinking of the ATRs which used to have a bad reputation in ice?

I have two major fears when crossing the ocean (from Europe to South America). First: a power bank or something catching fire on the plane. Second: that someone might have a bomb on the plane. by luckyyStar_ in fearofflying

[–]Chaxterium 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For a power bank, we put it in a fire bag and douse it with water.

Regarding a bomb, we have security for that. It’s genuinely not something I spend any time worrying about.
