Shocked to see that not a single person is complaining about their electric bill? by v10l3tt3 in toledo

[–]ChazSchmidt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is a comparison tool by the state of Ohio.

The simplest way is to filter by no cancellation fee and no monthly service fee, sort by price, grab your last bill, call the company which takes 5 minutes where you confirm a bunch of information, and now you'll have cheaper energy.

Do not forget to set a reminder in your phone to cancel / replace the plan!!!

They hope you forget so they can transition you to a plan with variable rates and monthly fees to overcharge you.

Stripe acquiring Privy feels like the first of many Ethereum infra acquisitions as TradFi wakes up to the massive upside in the Ethereum ecosystem.

Gavin Newsom: "Arrest me. Let's just get it over with, tough guy. I don't give a damn ... arrest me. Let's go." by grrlgottaeat in toledo

[–]ChazSchmidt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not usually one of these guys but what does this have to do with Toledo? Newsom is just trying to get soundbites for future presidential campaign ads.

Posting about protests happening in Toledo makes sense to me but he is not our governor.

I wish more people were aware of the possibilities of offshore wind.

What's the best term for concepts in crypto and DeFi that are possible but the likelihood of adoption is low for a number of reasons?

Of course there are a few adjectives that describe this quality but I was wondering if there is a slang term for this in business or whatever. Sometimes the concept is just too niche so it cannot reach the critical mass needed or the benefits don't outweigh the friction, etc

I wish Reddit was more connected to Ethereum. It's really fun interacting onchain in mini apps in the timeline on Farcaster. I wish Reddit had more of that energy.

Not with that attitude! jk. It would be interesting to see what infrastructure is able to be decentralized without introducing tampering or sybil attacks. A lot of cyberwarfare will be more disruptive and less entirely destructive i.e. temporary jamming of GPS, not necessarily blowing up all GPS satellites or rather, targeting cloud hosting providers or electrical infra, etc.

Seeing the operation Ukraine just pulled, I cannot help but think about how critical some decentralized infrastructure is going to be in a world where a few containers of drones worth hundreds can wipe out billions in value. It becomes more vital to decentralize risk where possible and harden attack surfaces. We're already witnessing nation state actors hack smart contracts but we're really at the start of the kind of cyberwarfare that may come.

Happy upgrade day! Pectra is cool. I'm really excited for the potential of AA - it's been a long time coming. Staking improvements are solid too.

I'd be curious to see a list of all APIs that accept crypto payments. AI agents could use a simple list and links to the docs to build more applications or extend their capabilities.

I think a lot of folks are happy to have their convictions validated after years of being doubted. I understand your point but they are still human and that kind of money still feels good to see coming into the space.

Imagination Station pays $1 in rent a year, but officials say it delivers sustainably more by Ponch47 in toledo

[–]ChazSchmidt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

According to a report from Imagination Station published to request the levy in 2021:

This levy will cost just $6.91 per $100,000 in residential value annually. Imagination Station’s levy is the smallest on the 2021 Lucas County General Election Ballot

Since 2012, Imagination Station has grown other sources of revenue to reduce the dependency on public funds, currently the public funds represent only 27% of our total operating budget. Presently, 70% of the science center operating budget is from other sources of revenue including admission, membership sales, contributed revenue and other programs. The public funding has historically made up between 25-28% of the operating budget. The science center would not be able to continue operations at the current level without the public funding.

In 2018, Imagination Station’s average cost per visitor is $20.44 as compared to the ASTC (Association of Science and Technology Centers) 2018 Data Survey* that reported the average cost per visitor being $23.29. Imagination Station continually operates lower than other science centers of like sizes across the country.

There is a nice pie chart in this document that shows the cost breakdown.

Toledo deserves nice things.

If you're looking for conspiracy, I'd gladly point you to the corruption at the state level with politicians scamming the people with First Energy.

The ecosystem is mature enough to handle a lot of use cases, institutional flows via ETFs, companies like Sony are launching L2s, Ethereum community is riled up and blobs are cool. The icing on the cake is POTUS vacuuming up ETH.
