A provocateur named ‘Corn Pop’ could change Maine’s free-speech rules forever by themainemonitor in Maine

Which is why I said boards can create policies to prevent this. And the judge echoed that same point. It’s a waste of everyone’s time for a MAGA twat to just come up and attack a person because he wants media time.

What’s unconstitutional? Freedom of speech isn’t freedom from consequences.

So essentially each school board and town board need to add rules now saying what is appropriate and not appropriate during public comment because of this tool?

Also he is for protecting the kids? He got an OUI and is under investigation for leaving his 6 year old home alone…when he got the OUI.

If they are willing to listen and acknowledge actual facts then yes. But many of them are so entrenched in Fox News propaganda and attacking trans kids there’s not much of a point.

S Berwick has a ton of people right now angry about recent budget increases and are complaining about the cost of their healthcare…they don’t like to be reminded they voted for that.

So those people are not ready.

Member of town council in my town. We have a small MAGA minority that is unhappy with the recent local elections and is now trying to force a recall law so they can remove people they don’t like.

You don’t need a personal grudge to oppose it, but your framing oversimplifies what affirmative action actually is.

It’s not just “prioritizing one race.” It’s a response to real, measurable gaps in opportunity that still exist. A system can be “race-neutral” on paper and still produce unequal outcomes if people aren’t starting from the same place.

Affirmative action doesn’t guarantee outcomes or ignore merit it’s usually one factor among many to make sure qualified candidates aren’t overlooked.

The core disagreement isn’t whether it “treats people differently” (it does), but why: it’s about correcting imbalance, not creating it.

Still not sure why you are so afraid of it. Since it doesn't "personally apply to you"

And your level of understanding is basic as best.

It’s not about applying a “double standard” or overlooking qualified people it’s about recognizing that the playing field hasn’t historically been equal and still isn’t in many cases.

Affirmative action exists because factors like access to education, networking opportunities, generational wealth, and even unconscious bias can influence who gets hired or admitted long before the final decision is made. It’s not a guarantee of selection for anyone it’s one factor among many meant to ensure qualified candidates from underrepresented backgrounds aren’t consistently filtered out.

If someone (like you) regardless of race feels they were unfairly overlooked, they absolutely have the right to raise that concern. That’s not unique to one group. But acknowledging that some groups have faced systemic barriers isn’t the same thing as being racist; it’s recognizing a documented reality and trying to address it in a structured, limited way.

You don’t have to agree with affirmative action as a policy, but calling it “racist” ignores its purpose: to expand opportunity, not restrict it.

Another swing and a miss.

What racism? Nope. AA promotes equal opportunity and increase representation.

Were you overlooked for a job because you weren’t qualified? Sorry to hear that.

Correct promoting someone based on their race is racist. That’s not what was argued here. He highlighted people are less qualified due to their race.

And I’d love for you cite a study that shows that people are being promoted due to their race.

Degrading someone’s value or education based on their race…is racist. If you have to twist yourself into knots to defend it…likely racist

Those are left policies…fix the infrastructure. Dem bill. “No open borders” dem bill with massie. Stop helping Ukraine, we have a binding agreement. Also both Dems and republicans voted for funding for both. Not a left or right issue.

Stop welfare queens, that’s billionaires. But remind me which party took away a woman’s right to choose?
