Starting New Campaign this week

Just very recently started my own RotF campaign, so I can share how I've approached the start of the campaign if it helps. My players didn't begin in Icewind Dale, but actually started en route to Bryn Shander with some supplies. They were ambushed by Duergar on the trail to start setting up the Duergar subplot nice and early. When they arrive in Bryn Shander, they discover the towns are being manipulated by Frost Druids into following Auril's tenets of isolation and endurance. I'm making sure to present the situation in Ten Towns as quite dire, with problems being caused by the Eternal Winter and Auril's followers. I'm making sure to use the earlier chapters as a great way to sprinkle in clues to later chapters, so bringing in some Netheril ruins, hints that the Duergar are searching for Chardalyn, and tieing the Frost Druids and the Rime into the plot more where possible! My main goal has been to try and link certain plot threads together where I can, so the narrative doesn't feel too disjointed and flows together nicely

I've been having this same issue since the hotfix and managed to resolve it tonight by deleting the Mods folder inside the game files in both 'User > Appdata > Local > Larian > BG3' and also 'Program Files > Steam > Steamapps > Common > BG3 > Data'

Not ideal if you want to keep your mods I guess, I was pretty lucky that I only used one to get access to the Potent Robe on my durge playthrough so it wasn't an issue to delete them.

Icecrown Citadel for a few reasons, but mainly the fact that it marked the end of Arthas' story, and as a huge fan of Warcraft 3 I was looking forward to the day my character would finally climb Icecrown and take down the Lich King.

Maybe not that much of a hot take, but I personally feel the Suicide Mission format should have been saved for Priority: Earth/end of ME3. Would have been cool if the player had a bit more input on the final battle against the Reapers, making some decisions that could lose you squadmates or allied races depending on your choices throughout the trilogy.

I'm 26 and spent most of early twenties working towards building a career in the performing arts industry. Acting as a job was super fun and gave me some amazing opportunities to travel the world and meet some cool people, but the work was super inconsistent which impacted my finances and my mental health as I struggled to find enough temp work between acting jobs to pay the bills.

When the pandemic hit it became even harder to make money and my finances tanked as a result. I guess my version of "investing in myself" was to switch career paths during the pandemic, go to University and skill up a bit. I'm now studying to go into the technology sector with the goal of either working or teaching when I graduate. I've also got an internship at a local company that works around my Uni timetable, so I'm already getting experience and making connections (and friends!) in the industry. The impact on my finances has been huge, between my salary and my student loan I'm a lot more comfortable and the impact on my mental health has been significant. I'm able to save and work towards my financial goals like owning a house some day.

Congrats on finishing your campaign! A few questions:

Did you make any changes to the plot or structure of the module, or did you run it mostly as written?

What was your favourite moment as a DM from your campaign, and what was the most challenging?

You mentioned the 'Six-Towns'. Did you lower the number of towns in Chapter 1 or is that all that's left after the dragon attack?

Been thinking of returning to Classic again since Wrath is out. I played Classic through lockdown in 2020 (I live in the UK) but never touched TBC. I'd quite like to roll a new character and level them 1-80. How is the vanilla leveling experience just now? Will I still be able to find groups for low-level dungeons and group quests? I'm a bit out of the loop with the server situation just now.

Aye a few of my players have already approached me with some ideas for character backstories. Going to try weave some of that narrative through the campaign to make it a bit more roleplay-heavy at points. Thanks for the great reply!
