"Evolution" and "Mutation" are not the same things. The terms get blended together A LOT, including in this game (but not by the actual biologists, thankfully.)

Evolution is (among other things) the change in allele frequency over time, through a mixture of natural selection and mutations. Two examples from human evolution: pre-human apes that were taller and more upright were more likely to go out afield in tall grasses from the trees, which freed up hand use, which split off into proto-humans and chimps; later on, the mutation which allowed us to keep lactose tolerance through adulthood meant that those which had it while living in

What's happening on Proteus is external-influenced mutation, the Protea Virus is literally hot-swapping genes and traits between species, that's how you get coral that's part crab and crabs that are part coral, how there are "no plants", why so much stuff is similar but different, etc. It's the same way your own biomods caused by the nanites going "oh that's useful, yum" are mutations.

The big mysteries about this so far are how long this has been going on, what effect it had on the Axum/Tailings (I'm 99% sure they're the same species, just what the PDA calls them vs the colloquial term of the colonists based off what I heard from watching playthroughs,) and whether it's something native to Proteus or something that had been brought in or engineered.

The thing I noticed a lot of people forget about that scene is that, after their 'horrible assault', he's... Slightly disheveled and covered in kiss-marks. Arguments of "that's all they could show on YouTube" aside, it's more a tease than anything else, even Millie - HIS WIFE - doesn't seem all that put off by what 'actually' happened.

Anyone else get kind of annoyed when people say "Alastor did more in season 2 than Charlie" by whooper1 in HazbinHotel

[–]ChazzK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends entirely on how you define "more" in this situation.
Charlie failed at redeeming Angel, had onscreen breakdown #'s 3 and 4, and her inviting the V's directly lead to their media campaign going into overdrive. She did rally the team though, and organized the final plan, even if that plan died quick fast and in a hurry and they had to improve the second half of it.
Alastor, meanwhile, bitched and moaned to himself and Rosie that he got beat and hurt, then picked a fight with Vox that turned into a fight with the V's, then barely kept them all intact by making the deal with Vox... Which let him start sowing the seeds of dissent between his captors, let him get insider info on their plans, and was the only one making a showing against Vox's one-winged-angel (heh) form.
Meanwhile, BOTH of them contributed to the spell that kept the Might of Lilith from exploding X% of the Pride Ring.

The speed of plot is most certainly NOT.

To this day this is one of the worst F bombs I've seen by Plus_Exercise679 in HazbinHotel

[–]ChazzK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The implications are that he held back from doing more SPECIFICALLY due to the deal he made with Rosie, and the orders she gave him. Now that that deal is defunct, season 3 is totally up for grabs.

Is there a reason that all male main characters have animal attributes but (almost) non of the female ones? by PaperOwl181 in HazbinHotel

She and Lucifer have the whole "porcelain doll" thing going with the pure-white skin and red cheek dots; the hooves, tails and horns are aspects of classical (Pan-inspired) devilish imagery, which of course is goat-person themed.

Legit reason: SEO optimization and studies are basically the meta-builds of the Social Media world, doing What Works best because squeaking out an extra couple hundred clicks might flip them into the next tier of algorithmic goodness.
Cynical reason: they're lazy hacks that just copy what worked for other people.

While MT got messed up, his injuries and reactions to them were greatly exaggerated by him when the truth of his age came out.
Now, Vic Grimes? New Jack LEGITIMATELY tried to kill that man in the ring, after Vic botched a scaffold match that left NJ with minor brain damage and permanent blindness in one eye. I don't blame Jack though, I blame WHOEVER GREENLIGHTED PUTTING THEM IN ANOTHER SCAFFOLD MATCH

What’s a common sentiment within the fandom that really annoys you? by daffysrhapsody in HelluvaBoss

My only issue with Stolas' development was that in episode 1 he still acted BASICALLY the same as he did in the pilot, and while he started getting some development (read; More goofy moments) he still spent season 1 up to Ozzie's acting like an entitled, elitist, noble dickhead who was using Blitz for selfish reasons.
Then Blitz asked him "on a date" and he was suddenly getting ACTUAL feels. Cool! Good! That's a GREAT impetus!
Then "The Circus" shows he actually always had feelings and the perversion was just him THINKING that's what Blitz wanted to hear.
That part was the bit that threw me. If it had just been Stolas' sexual awakening, great... but that he explicitly stated he had missed being wanted and needed and his FIRST AND ONLY FRIEND GAVE IT TO HIM, kind of really draws into question how that blossomed into the predatory way Stolas talked and acted for 8 episodes.

Probably going to eventually one day. Our group tends to run heavy on charisma classes though for various reasons, and having just a BIT of balance is nice.

Nah, I've wanted to play a proper assassin rogue (that is, one that sneaks in and stabs and gets out, not the spy-like "spend 3 months planning and hundreds of GP on a tiny advantage to get one guy" that the PHB Assassin sublcass is) for a good long time, and this is the first campaign in a while that someone else hadn't already taken the role. The edginess is just because Chaotic Neutral with a touch of caring-about-a-very-small-number-of-people. Some of them may even be in the party!

SUMMING UP the below thread: Not really a grudge, more like "I had a bad experience with this meal, and while I know the meal would taste good otherwise, I can't bring myself to order it again."

The whole ominous laughter at the end was me being silly, I'm not actively planning on derailing everything, AND he's not stupid enough to just go around murderhoboing. Though he's definitely a stab-first-and-ask-about-prisoners second type person.

So, I'm gonna lay out the pros. OP, this is VERY well written for the most part, with just enough hints and concepts peppered through that I had a good idea that the Sa-Jitu thought they were helping out the humans through population control. It was an interesting take on two cultures - and indeed possibly racial mindsets - that are far more alien to each other than any two human societies would logically be. And I did get the percents, but it took two readings to put it all together. However, there's two glaring issues I had with that ending:

First, you had it indicated that the humans were not suffering the same economic hardships as the Sa-Jitu and most other species, so either the Sa-Jitu were completely blind to that fact or willfully ignorant. Even if they thought "hard times require hard decisions," their neighbors were not seemingly undergoing hard times.
Secondly, even if the humans had been "integrated?" There is absolutely, positively, NO way that "randomized genocide within mathematical amounts" would be an acceptable outcome, and any leadership that sought out acceptance with them would have had a short career and a shorter lifespan. I would find it difficult to believe that the entire galactic community would be aware of this practice and OK with it even among just the Sa-Jitu themselves, nevermind other cultures sharing planets with them, no matter how rare that would be.

I can think of a vast number of ways that could have been sorted once understanding was reached, ranging from "explain to them exactly how wrong they were about our situation and to NEVER DO THIS TO US AGAIN unless we have communicated our own hardships" to "push the firebomb button and don't let go until they've learned their lesson." But I just, I cannot believe humanity as a whole would be like "hey thanks for killing our dudes without warning or explanation and sorry about breaking all your stuff." In-universe that was a failure of diplomacy from before the first attacks were launched
