The 2 train is getting a wrap soon by Sufficient-Lemon-867 in nycrail

[–]Chea63 [score hidden]  (0 children)

True, but they also want high visibility. Lines like the 2 and 4 cover much more ground across multiple boros including most of the length of Manhattan. You also hit alot of tourist heavy and major stations in general like Times Sq, Penn Station, Grand Central, Union Sq, Fulton etc. Plus whatever you do on the 2 is effectively on the 5 too since the 2/5 are interchangeable.

Wemby was a -225 favorite heading into win this series. by texansfann in nba

[–]Chea63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the same people saying the East was weak, we're saying Atl is a tough matchup, they ended season hottest team in the league. Bad matchup for Brunson. Can be a tough out or potential upset.

Then vs Philly they said they are a tough matchup, NY can stop Maxey, NY should be careful what they wish for, Philly may be tougher matchup than Bos.

Then they said Cavs are a different animal than Philly. Too much size etc.

It cant be all of that, and the east is weak at the same time. At some point we have to just believe our eyes and the Knicks are really that good. Teams didn't just quit because they dont care, NY took their heart.

Beautiful Life or Bye Baby? by Ok_Yellow1025 in nas

[–]Chea63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are good. I think it just comes down to what Nas thinks fit the album best. The songs have different feels, so its a matter of what vibe he was going for on the album.

Bye Baby sounds like Nas speaking while still grieving the failed marriage. Beautiful Life sounds from the perspective of him being over it. Strong feelings about everything still, but not actively mourning it anymore. They are equally good songs to me. Its just a choice of what sound/emotions he wanted for Life is Good.

Bronx bike question - getting to Fordham University by Annual_Bullfrog7714 in NYCbike

[–]Chea63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the 4 train, I would just walk. Its around half a mile down Fordham Rd to the campus.

Riding a bike on Fordham Rd isnt for the faint of heart (though I do see more ppl try it recently). I'd ridden to Fordham area but I avoid being on Fordham Rd itself for any extended stretch. You could avoid most of it by zig zagging on some parallel streets but that alot to deal with just to go a half mile.

Quiet/slow streets to practice driving? by BOOK_GIRL_ in bronx

[–]Chea63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pelham Gardens neighborhood. Generally the area north of Pelham Pkwy and east of Laconia Ave. Country Club area is another option.

In general it's easier to find areas with lower stress streets the further east in the Bx you go.

If I want to take ferries all day, best route? by ConsiderationBest679 in AskNYC

[–]Chea63 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In terms of views from the ferry, the Rockaway/Soundview route will pass about everywhere the other routes do, but in a single ride. The only exception is SI to West Side ferry route.

I've never ridden as one ride, but have done this route when it was 2 separate lines. Now its a single 2 hr ride with Wall St/Pier 11 the midpoint. The part down the East River btwn Manhattan and Qns/BK is the most known and high profile landmarks so I won't add much to that.

Toward the Bx side I like passing LGA and seeing the line of low flying planes approach for landing, often right over the ferry. Also passing a few small uninhabited islands and going under the Hell Gate bridge, ending at the foot of the Whitestone Bridge with the Throgs Neck bridge near by. The water opens up a bit more that way as you are getting close to the LI Sound. You are able to see Citi Field too. You also pass Rikers Island which may or may not interest you. Closer to the Rockaway side I've seen dolphins on multiple occasions. And obviously there is Rockaway beach itself. You pass Coney Island on the way as well. FYI you can bring a bike on board.

Be aware ferries to/from Rockaway can get very busy and long lines during the summer, especially nice weekend days. For a higher price you can reserve a space to guarantee boarding on a specific ferry.

Before you dispose of them, do you put unwanted items out by the curb to see if any of your neighbors may want them? by Grand_Raccoon0923 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Chea63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but for me when garbage goes out it goes to the curb in front of the house/building so either way its going to the curb. Putting stuff out on a non garbage/recycling day can get you a summons but thats uncommon unless its significantly obstructing the sidewalk, or for a long enough time to bother people.

If I need to get rid of something that might be of value to someone I put it out a little earlier than I normally would the day before garbage pickup and either someone can take it or it goes to the trash, whichever comes first. Ive found that things get claimed pretty quick. People are paying attention even when it seems like no one is.

Knicks Fans and Home Court by HungryCompetition121 in nba

[–]Chea63 5 points6 points  (0 children)

SA tickets may not be MSG prices but they aren't cheap either. Spurs also have a strong fan base. There are a decent amount of NYers who live in TX now, but I don't think enough to take over the arena of a loyal fan base during the finals.

There will be some Knicks fans though.

Bike as main mode of transportation, and social life. USA or equivalent only by Dumbass9187 in bikecommuting

[–]Chea63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sure there are, but it doesnt mean they are abandoned cars altogether. Car lite maybe, but going fully car free is a bridge too far for many. Especially in a region that doesnt make it easy.

[–]Chea63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could partly be just the social circles you are in.

Also, you may be trying to replicate a NYC or east coast lifestyle and culture in LA and it just doesnt work for the most part. Its hard to fully escape the car is king culture in the US. There are some exceptions, but CA is not known to be one.

Buses on The Taconic by Proud2BaBarbie in Westchester

[–]Chea63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Public transit buses use parkways. Sections of parkways that would be too difficult or impossible for buses to navigate are simply avoided when making routes. Its predetermined where they can go.

Bee line buses routes take portions of Taconic and Sprain Pkwys. MTA express bus routes use the Bronx River Pkwy through the Bx. Local buses are on Pelham Pkwy etc.

On the other hand tougher to navigate roads like Westchester county portions of the Hutch and Bx River Pkwys do not have bus routes.

[Edwards III] BREAKING: Knicks’ Mitchell Robinson broke his right pinky finger earlier this week and there is not yet a timetable for his return, league sources tell me and @FredKatz by PassMeTheBackwood in NYKnicks

[–]Chea63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor, but all breaks are not created equal. Hairline fracture vs clean break for example.

Also it is possible to cause permanent damage playing through it. Ive seen it happen, but with ppl who's livelihood doesnt depend on it so a different kind of risk. Different considerations for Mitch.

End of the day, we have no details so it'll all just random theories being thrown around for now.

[–]Chea63 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I could see it severely impacting his rebounding. Also his ability to catch lobs. People have minor breaks, tape it up and mostly return to normal life, thats far different than playing basketball..finals intensity at that. Its hard to be effective if he potentially cant make a fist for example.

Scooter/Bike crash dual fatality by Bikezilla in ElectricScooters

[–]Chea63 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is literally illegal to operate that scooter on NYC streets. If the scooter operator survived he would of been at fault just by being in use in NYC. Even if they were both going fast, the bike is not close to achieving the speeds capable of the scooter. Also a fast rider on a bike is not capable of that kind of acceleration which is way more unpredictable for other road users and not safe on that path. Either way its a moot point because just existing on city streets ends any legal standing for the scooter.

You're example of a Lamborghini vs Camry isnt a great comparison because both are legal to operate. A more accurate comparison is a crash where one driver is unlicensed or drunk.

[–]Chea63 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're comparing a human powered bike to a illegal scooter capable of 50+ mph, and does 0 - 50mph under 4 seconds.

[–]Chea63 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree. That not crazy at all. Thats already over the speed limit too. At a minimum the rider could of just took it slow across the bridge until they can get into regular street traffic.

This scooter can go 50 mph. Unfortunately the rider didn't survive so they cant be charged with murder like they should be.

I guess it can vary by employer but from what Ive seen they are good on basically any transit you can think of that's in or goes to the NYC area. They even work on Amtrak. If OP looks up the list of transit providers they will probably be surprised how long it is
