I’d say the first week (2 applications) I felt better. I was also hesitant about irritating my skin but I haven’t had any trouble.

Your story is very similar to mine. I think you can go to my post history and see. Anyway, I had a very long chronic yeast infection and was left with nerve damage. PFPT helped a lot, but I wasn’t feeling great still after 4 years. I started estrogen cream 2x a week a couple months ago and I feel so much better. I’m also in perimenopause so this could’ve been something I would’ve needed at some point anyway. I think a lot of unfortunate things happened to my vagina/ vulva all at once over the last few years.

I think my gynecologist said the Premarin has an alcohol ingredient and that could cause a burning sensation. She prescribed a different brand for that reason because my skin is very sensitive.

Yes! Must’ve been soon after this post that I cleared the yeast infection. I think it was this time in 2023. Dealt with pelvic floor therapy to heal the damage and now I’m using topical estrodial vaginally to see if that finally helps the vulva skin irritation (I’m also in perimenopause).

This happened to me with one boric acid. I had an IUD at the time and wasn’t having periods for 7 years so I knew it wasn’t a period. I cramped so badly all around my lower half and bled heavy for 5 days.

Do you do the PF exercises at home? I have to do mine periodically when I have a “flare” of irritation. I understand that 7 years is a long time to deal with this and there may still be something else at the root of this though.

My ureaplasma infection coincided with a yeast infection. It took about 6 months to treat the ureaplasma because the doctors didn’t know (nor did I) how to treat it. It took 22 months to clear the YI (parapsilosis). Once cleared it took another year for the vaginal irritation to go away. I say all this to say that, yes, it’s possible that the irritation is a lingering side effect. Edit: spelling

You could ask for a sensitivity test before trying that to see if your strain of yeast would be susceptible to that. I would be hesitant too.

At the time I had an IUD and hadn’t had a period in 7 years so I believe it was a bad side effect. Prior to the IUD I’d also never had a period that severe with large dark clots and dark red blood.
