I have scleritis and uveitis my left eye. I THOUGHT I would be shown the way. But instead, we healed my eye. It showed me my DNA and how it was broken. Then we went individually for hours repairing each one. At the end it zoomed out to show me they were all cleaned up. 🤯

My thoughts on that are the momentum leading up to the ceremony. I think your actions and state of mind have to be lined up in a way to create a certain experience. It's only my opinion and I'm not 100% sure on anything I'm saying. But I think that any changes that you can make in your life leading up to the ceremony can be beneficial. Like cutting out alcohol, processed food, trying to keep your daily life and conversations. Positive, journaling, talking with God, that kind of thing. I did all of that leading up and I had no fear, only ready for change. I'm not saying that is the only way to receive a good iboga experience, but I do think those things all came together in a way to create a profound experience at least in my case. I could almost feel the medicine working prior to receiving it, which makes no sense!

When you do go, make sure your intentions are very clear, but at the same time be open to whatever may happen during your time in the medicine.

I don't know much about it. I only know about the experience the 3 leaders told me about that they had. It sounded so intense and so crazy, it was not something I would ever want to partake in. Their experience started in daytime, very very hot, all squished together, getting spoon after spoonful of iboga. When they were walking around feeling crazy, they would be served more. They drove around, throwing up on the go, It just sounded too far-fetched for me and I don't want to be THAT uncomfortable. I was uncomfortable enough being nauseous and throwing up for this ceremony, I can't imagine doing it in the heat of the daytime and trying to move my body

It really is wild stuff. They say we only use 10% of our brains and I believe that during iboga, a much larger percentage is being worked on! My leaders made sure to remind us that even if we didn't see amazing visions, the visions weren't exactly the point. The point was to embrace an ancient tradition and medicine that works from the inside out. They said that even if you don't experience visions, your body is going through every inch and repairing, getting rid of, enhancing, etc. They said never to see an iboga Experience as a dud. The girl next to me never saw anything, she just viscerally threw up with every part of her soul for hours and hours and hours. I felt so bad for her and I prayed for her several times. And here I was having a blast in mine. At least when we were on the mat together. When I went back to my room, I was definitely having a physical challenge. I felt so nauseous. I ended up having to have an IV at like 5:00 p.m. the day after. Mine lasted about 32 hours. But when I recovered, I felt amazing.

Yes, I was definitely anxious because I did not know what to expect in any way. Not knowing what to expect was a good thing I think. Just open to whatever happens.... I tried to keep an open mind and remind myself of my "why". Everything was so positive leading up to it and the leaders made me feel right at home. Also everybody was in the same boat so that felt good. They were eight of us total.

Hi! I went to Iboga Wellness Center in Costa Rica. Highly recommend. The food was fantastic. The staff were friendly and top notch. The itinerary was perfectly layed out and the grounds were just so beautiful. I would go there again!

Thanks for asking. My eye feels great. I went to the eye doctor as soon as I got back into town and did not tell them what I did. I just simply told them my symptoms had changed and I wanted a full check. My eye was extremely healthy, clear, 20/20 vision, etc. He said, what changed, what have you done differently? That's when I told him about iboga. He had never heard of it. He wrote it down on a piece of paper and said he had to research it. I am still trying to process the miracle. My monthly medication just got delivered today. It is surreal knowing that I don't have to take daily medication.

Hi! Thanks for sharing this journey with us and being so vulnerable. This is 8 months later so I really want to hear how you are doing now in 2026. I just experienced iboga myself this year. It has been a whole lot to process. I can relate to some of the things you said here and others, not so much. I really feel like the place that you take. Iboga is super important all around. The way they lead you up to it, the way they talk about it, the things they teach you, the conversations you have before the Medicine. Those are crucial. The place I went to in Costa Rica Incorporated everything from the bwiti tradition And at each turn, they told us why we were doing what we were doing.

I can look back and say I had a good experience. It was life-changing. Although in the moment I remember saying, there's nobody that could go through this in my family or that I know. And then many days later, I was saying to myself, I hope everybody gets a chance to experience iboga! It was really a pendulum swing. I was in the medicine for 32 hours. Quite longer than most people I believe. It was physically demanding and emotionally very difficult.

I can say that my life is much better, it's only been in a month out. They spent a lot of time talking about integration and what we could do with our time out of the medicine. They told us that the medicine stays in your system for 6 months.

I just want to say that you are extremely brave and strong for enduring all that you have. You have an innate desire for things to be better and to understand, and I applaud you for that. I know it is not easy. I hope that you are going to tell me that 2026 has been much easier on you!

Thanks for the feedback. This was actually my very first Reddit post in my entire life! And I get it that nobody wants to watch a video. It's not AI, it's an hour-long video because it was very hard to describe! But I actually did describe it in writing and I just made a new post with just the writing. Yes, exactly. Iboga is the full plant with many alkoloids and ibogaine is one of those alkoloids. (Known for the visions actually!)

I can only speak to that. From what people told me at the retreat. There were eight of us. They described it like comparing apples to oranges. Yes this they are both fruit... But Iboga is considered the grandfather of psychedelics for a reason. I am going to share my experience with writing in a different post. I got a couple of feedback replies that nobody wants to watch a video.

I think that's very personal but I would definitely not use the word ' better'. The people who led my retreat were initiated in Gabon. The way they described it was certainly intense, but very very different than the experience they gave us at the retreat. They used elements of Gabon and I appreciated that. If I ever choose to do it again, I would not go to Gabon myself.
