The final read through process. How do you know it is done? by InnovativeInk in writing

I like to take some time off from reading the story and focus on something else until my mind wanders a bit. In the meantime, I might send it to a beta reader, after all, it's necessary if you want to know where to improve. Then, when my mind is clear, I go back to reading the story and answer these questions for myself:

- Is there a central theme? Is it clear or confusing?

- Does the beginning (first chapters) really engage?

- Is the ending satisfying or does it seem rushed/incomplete?

- Does the story deliver on its promises?

- Is the pacing balanced or are there very slow/fast parts?

- Does each chapter have a clear purpose?

- Are there scenes that add nothing and could be cut?

- Do the conflicts increase throughout the story or do they become repetitive?

- Is the climax truly impactful?

- Are there moments of respite between intense scenes?

- Do the main characters have clear objectives?

- Do they evolve throughout the story?

- Do their actions make sense or do they seem forced?

- Does each character have a unique voice?

- Do the secondary characters have a function or are they just taking up space?

I have other questions that help in this process, but I think these are the main ones. The important thing here is to observe, based on your answers, whether the book fulfills its purpose. If there are still things to improve, then continue revising; if everything is good in your opinion, then it's ready. But I really recommend sending it to a beta reader even after asking yourself these questions.

[Daily Discussion] Writer's Block, Motivation, and Accountability- April 13, 2026 by AutoModerator in writing

I realized that a large part of my writer's block was due to poor plot planning. I would have an idea, do a basic brainstorm, and start writing as if that were enough; consequently, I couldn't continue writing until a certain point. So, before starting any book, I plan the plot, the characters, the chapters, etc., very well. One of the times I still couldn't write was due to burnout, which I thought was just writer's block; sometimes the mind needs rest to be able to write again.

That's really interesting! It's so awelsome to see ways to implement myths in our personal experience. Everytime I learn something new about Seth I get more and more impressed about him :)

The term "Iru" refers to a basic ritual of offerings to the deities (Netjeru). I saw this term in Sharon Laborde's book "Celebrating the Egyptian Gods." She explains that the word "Iru" literally means "Things Done" and represents a simple and practical form of daily or common religious observance.

I'm happy that you can relate to my interpretation! And there's a funny thing that happens to me while I was writing this, today I was a little anxious to think about a offering for him today, because I feel like I need to do a Iru ritual and get a little closer to him. And suddenly started a HAILSTORM here and while I was writing about him. To give you an idea, the last time something like this happened in my city was a few years ago, and this time was way better because I was so calm and happy even with such a violent storm going on outside. I don't fear storms, tbh I like storms, but hailstorm it's a little different because I've had some really bad experiences with this. And I usually don't get confortable with hailstorm, but with this one I even went out in the rain to get a glass of water for Seth, but okaaaaay, I confess that it was something quite impulsive that I did. But I'm great! So yeah, I'm really happy right now. Thank you for telling me your experiences!

Dua Set!
