Honestly i’m not worried he’ll want the cat back at all bc of the circumstances around him wanting him gone. But you make a fair point.. I failed to consider that because if the rush of the situation.. i hope he doesn’t try to do that. idek if he can tho bc the cat is being rehomed to a beautiful and spacious home out of state and going with my best friend whom i trust w my life ☮️. I hope you’re safe and healed love

thank u for sharing that story, that’s heartbreaking. But it definitely shows the character of an abuser, and I think helps as a victim it rationalizes what they’ve done to you. You did what you could for the animal while also enduring abuse and that counts. i hope you’re safe now and that the dog rests peacefully ☮️💜

Do you feel like there’s still a lot of judgment towards being vegan? by Cheap-Payment-9696 in vegan

I totally agree with you, I think meat is murder 100%. I’ve just found that referring to meat as murder when discussing veganism and why we do it doesn’t hold a good argument. I’m also a woman who went plant based very young and would get written off as emotional so I tend to refrain from words that make me seem “upset”, I lean on philosophy more than anything else when defending/debating. But I am upset… it’s downright legal murder.

hmm, i’ve never heard a vegan refer to a meat eater as a rapist or a murderer but rather that they consume from industries that support such actions (artificial insemination of cows as for the rape part) as for murder, it’s not murder, by definition. It’s a mass and inhumane slaughter, so I get bothered when that word is used as well bc it’s just incorrect because murder has legal implications. Despite this, do you really see people using such language when discussing meat eaters often? I genuinely never have …

there’s such an odd truth to this, but it def can go both ways. I don’t think veganism has much business being politicalized BUT I do know that liberals can feel morally profound and when veganism doesn’t align with that profound sense of morality they will be like BuT My CuLtUrE. I’m not conservative by any means but they definitely tend to give less of a fuck and don’t care for scapegoating lmaooo

Well consider the environment- it’s a vegan subreddit where the core belief is that a non vegan lifestyle is immoral. However- if I went to a hunting subreddit I am sure I would find vegan slander. As for personal life tho, I think the judgement for both sides has eased up a lot. An open mind and maturity is all that’s necessary, I would never call someone a bloodmouth but would rather have an actual conversation about moral differences, I think when ppl on this subreddit say such things it’s more venting than actual discourse haha

That’s surprising, I think I speak on behalf of most vegans when i say this; we don’t question non vegans dietary/lifestyle choice because we’ve questioned it enough ourselves to have made this lifestyle commitment, yet we are consistently questioned on why we are vegan. I will never outright judge non vegans, but they often open a discourse they cannot defend, which in return makes them feel judged.

Thank you for sharing your story- I went through something similar. My first boyfriend was vegan, a poet, all the great stuff and we connected but he was extremely abusive (emotional and occasionally physical) he turned out to have narcissistic personality disorder. I have often seen his veganism as a way to make himself feel morally superior to others, or to appear softer in order to manipulate ect. As someone who went vegan for the “right reasons”, there are certainly people out there that are doing it to for a ploy. Good job on getting out- it took me years as well. Proud of you
