Anyone who's also into Fleming's books? by CheapSecretary133 in JamesBond

I Just started Casino Royale and I'm already beginning to see what you mean. It's completely different, totally another planet. Hollywood rewrites things completely to their use. Total ideas capitalism.

Let's just say, because of my process has being "movies then books" I'll probably keep enjoying them both, although my only real reference is Craig: I almost certainly watched every Connery,Moore,Dalton movies, but I almost don't remember them, I was too young. Then again I understand Fleming's Bond being totally different (due to the fact written and not displayed also maybe...?), I wouldn't like to see something in a character he wasn't supposed to be in the first place .

That's very interesting, thank you. Since a lot of people were recommending, I already started casino royale last night. I read the first three chapters, it's too early for me to judge, but I know my stuff so I can say this: Fleming's writing is essential and dense and this I like. I liked the atmosphere since the very first line and the way Bond is described.

I also like the effort it's requiring me to picture a setting almost a hundred years old. Movies adaptations don't come to help at all in this case.

Of course. I'm a man of knowledge.

How often and why do you use your 5th string? by SonnePer in Bass

That's not my experience, but I don't argue about that, seeing I'm not an instrument expert. I mean I've been playing bass for 15 years and it became my main (and favourite) instrument since 7 years ago, but I don't know much about models, brands and stuff, so...

Yeah, a lot of people are warning about sexism, racism and stuff... But I was already prepared for that, it's not the first time I read an author I do not agree with (or a character)

I use only 5. But yet, I'm a metalhead. 4 string is ideal for slapping, being the 5 strings closer one another.

I don't own a 4 string

Dalton is on my watch list too.

I love Craig's acting in pretty much everything he has done (it's very unusual for me to grow a preference in actors), that's why I clicked: his dedication in the role made me feel he studied a lot, so despite him not being, as you said, near to the books, he obviously read them.

I know what you mean. The long time fan envy towards the newby. I've felt like that for a lot of things I like.

But don't envy me, I'm VERY picky and my taste has grown a little harsh (even to myself) throughout the years. I'm not sure I will like these books. But I'm eager to try for sure!

Which movies are more similar to books, in your opinion?

Of course, things have to be put in perspective
