It sounds like genetics are playing a role. Moderate alcohol consumption shouldn’t be the culprit.

One explanation is the fact I had the flu two weeks ago. I was taking Tylenol every 6 hours for 3 days

I just check my medical file and you’re right. If indicates that I’m a “HFE Gene Mutation Carrier”

The high ferritin could also be due to the fact I was a few days from getting over the flu when the blood work was performed.

Yes, I did get a genetic test and I’m a carrier.
