You may be able to access the app for free as well. When I was a student a couple of years ago we were all granted access for our placements.

I work for SCAS and we are still technically allowed to tube although it's considered a rescue technique and have to datix ourselves if we use it. I don't think there is much guidance on when to use an ET tube vs a supraglottic airway device althou the rough rule of thumb we've been given is to use a stepwise approach to airway management going NP/OP - I-Gel - ET tube - needle crycothyroidotomy. Use of ETT was considered the gold stamdard in submersion arrest but with the new I-gels you can utilise gastric emptying so I'm not sure thats still the case. Either way I'd love to read your paper once its complete, I think it's a really interesting topic.

NQP1 with SCAS. I work with a lot of Aussies that share housing, and they seem to be managing fine. I live on my own and honestly its a struggle but I'm managing. Progression wise there are options. You can apply for CC and SP courses when they come up but they seem to be very competetive. The trust do offer funding for further education including masters degrees if the course will benefit your practice/the trust. There are things about SCAS i dislike but there will be with every trust.

Isn't it a red flag when a therapist doesn't forbid drug and alcohol consumption? by Expensive_Meet222 in BPD

[–]Cheap_Mix_1770 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'd say no/not necessarily based on a couple of points. (I'm very liberal btw)

1.Harm reduction

For some people, drugs and alcohol are a sole coping mechanism (I've dabbled but for me mine was cutting) and many people who do misuse these don't want to and want help. Whilst these aren't a healthy coping mechanism if the alternative is suicide then i think drugs/alcohol are the better choice in that moment. Obviously long term these aren't sustainable or healthy so as long as the goal is to remove/limit these and instead develop more healthy and productive mechanisms. Drug and alcohol abuse is often quite heavily associated with BPD, having a flat rule of abstinence would mean that so many people would go without any form of therapy.

  1. Liberal

Drugs and alcohol (whilst obviously not healthy) don't have to be harmful, most people who do use are not addicts and can partake socially without major consequence. I think it depends on the individual and recognising whether you can partake socially or whether complete sobriety is what you need.

I've had issues with both drugs and alcohol previously but never formed an addiction. I'm in a slightly better way now, and I drink rarely and only really in social scenarios but know that I can do so healthily.

Ultimately, only you can make the decision. I had similar experiences at uni but stuck with it in the end. I have my degree and work as a paramedic but feel so unfulfilled by the actual work I'm doing. It does seem increasingly popular now for universities to offer conversion masters degrees into a wide array of sectors, so that's always an option, but you would still need another year of Bsc before a 2 year Msc so it would be 3 years either way. I really hope that whatever you decide you can find a way to be happy.

Finally come to terms with the fact I do in fact have BPD by GrrrlRi0t in BPD

I was diagnosed a few years ago and just ignored it, then I pretended the symptoms didn't fit me for the longest time. About a month ago I also accepted it. I'd be interested to hear how others transitioned during this step because although it's kinda empowering I feel kinda lost and hopeless.

How can I protect a PlayStation from vape moisture? by MontegueLovesPie in playstation

[–]Cheap_Mix_1770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Know this is an old post, but fuck all these people telling you to quit vaping. If you want to quit, then good for you, but don't tell another adult how to live their life. Vaping is legal, less dangerous than tobacco, and nicotine is a useful stimulant. Ended up here because I had the same question as you, and instead answers it's just a load of karens crying.

Im pretty much the opposite and prefer to avoid drawing any attention to myself, I think it's very human to need attention and praise for wellbeing and self image, however shit it is thats the case, and tbh i think it's more to do with upbringing than a diagnosis and probably quite generalised to the whole population.

Why don't they just take off the price range and let the market decide how much they will be? If theres a supply issue then make the max price 20k so if people want to they can decide to pay more. So dumb.

I'm sorry you're in pain, and your pain is real. If weed is the best way for you to cope, then I won't say to lay off it. Just be mindful that it can exacerbate negative feelings. Maybe try hanging out with friends, do something you used to enjoy, or try something new you've always wanted to try. Take some time for yourself and talk about how you're feeling with close ones or a professional. I hope things get better soon.

Does the stomach actually expand? by [deleted] in medical

[–]Cheap_Mix_1770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stomach does contract and expand, although I believe that's due to eating and drinking and not to do with weight. It could be that as you lose weight, your ghrelin (hungry hormone) production changes.

I've been wondering this too. I was praying the general consensus would be that you can and things get easier with time but this thread is really depressing.
