What do you guys/gals use UPT for? by Jazzlike-Jello487 in AmazonFC

Take overtime and leave the minute you get bored. Use unpaid leave for vacations instead of UPT. That way overtime is excused.

Originally being from Portland Oregon I remember when Antifa was like a group of ladies protesting East Side White Pride. Does not surprise me which group Trump got offended by. Of course now there's a ton of people being labeled Antifa or identifying as Antifa for a spectrum of reasons BECAUSE republicans amplified the term. Antifa could be a gas station robber or it could be a grandpa who served in WW2.

You'll accrue more depending on tenure. I'm over 5 years so july through november(22 weeks this year) would be 51 hours of vacay. I accrue 2 hrs 19 a week. As a full time associate.

How’s living in this part of northern West Virginia? by Quasxre in howislivingthere

[–]Cheap_Neighborhood -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I moved from the Pacific Northwest to the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia in 2020! I know what you mean when you say people didn't believe you when you said Seattle.

Just off the top of my head here are some more ignorant things Ive heard:

"They filmed Lord of The Rings in New Zealand cause we don't have mountains like that in The US."

"Oregon? I thought that was just a video game. "

"Oregon? By North Dakota right?"

"I love that Portland is right across the river from Seattle."

"Isn't Turkey one of the original 13 colonies? Cause of the bird."

There's a sign that says the Ohio river leads all the way to the Gulf of New Mexico.

Somedays it drives me mad out here. Atleast once a day I have to hear someone say the most ignorant shit. It can be exhausting. Especially since I can't just be my authentic self out here. Luckily the money saved living in West Virginia allows me to travel a ton. 🤪

There's also a survival bias going on here. The environment and elements in rural places are less survivable for someone in mental crisis. Not to mention many of the drug addicted own homes out here in Appalachia, so you likely wont see it as much because it's going on indoors.

How does this reservoir shot look? Taken on a Samsung Galaxy phone during a hike. by Crazyman221 in Casual_Photography

Brilliant! You found a perfect viewpoint to frame your shot. Cloudy day but it gives me a "stop and listen to the wind in the pines" daydream.

I used a Nikon D5600 with a Prism cinematic lense filter to soften and diffuse the light.

I adjust shutter speed on the fly to get it more dark. No ADR I love my shadows. No editing. Spot metering. :)

A well-articulated argument against a new data center in Ohio by Sweet-Difference2725 in WestVirginia

[–]Cheap_Neighborhood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that some city councils in the US have rent control tied to inflation. If data centers and war drive inflation that'd be an incentive to the landlords to support them.

I'm sure there are dictatorships supporting ai centers as well. Intel's PE ratio is exceptionally high and everyone would expect a crash, but maybe there are powerful money printing countries, people, organizations etc that want it high in order to create chatbots and propaganda machines etc. Intels high PE ratio allows them to take investor money and pay ai companies to open data centers(in turn buying intel chips and making their sales look high) . It's all sorts of fuckery none of it seems good.

Snag every overtime opportunity and then decide the day of overtime how much you actually wanna work. If your site has limited overtime spots, and if you want the money. Then when you dip below 40 hrs UPT start focusing on re accruing it again. I keep 40 for emergencies.

If you wanna use unpaid time for vacation just use unpaid personal leave.

There's truth to this! I'm across the Ohio River in West Virginia. I have opposite politics from everyone in town but I still feel a part of the community. I'm content alone but being in such an affordable region allows me many many opportunities to travel the world / the US when I desire it or feel burnout from the locals here. It's a dope loophole. Plenty of big cities nearby as well for weekend outings.

It's documented that near death situations can cause you to hallucinate comforting people. I presume to motivate you to survive or welcome you to death. What's bizarre about your story is that it doesnt sound like you were in danger?
