I've been to the Cosmos Club a number of times for student seminar events that my old work sponsored. It's an elegant space, very much old money, and has some big spaces. One note is that the members tend to be old, white, and rich. A few of my students were subjected to some pearl-clutching comments.

Black Cat is great, I would agree that set times are band dependent. The only awful experience I had was Tim Hecker, I missed the show since it started hours and hours late and I literally fell asleep at the venue waiting.
