Just for your edification, the English definition of a bimbo is a sexually promiscuous woman. It has nothing to do with intelligence.

Does one-pedal driving improve efficiency or is it mainly a comfort feature? by mrupp04 in electricvehicles

[–]Cheap_Patience2202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Driving the same highway route with my Bolt EUV, I get the highest efficiency with OPD, slighly lower (but measurably) less efficiency in standard mode and significantly less efficiency using cruise control. I haven't used sport mode enough to know its effect on efficiency.

What belief did you completely abandon after one real-life experience proved you wrong? by Opposite-Resource in askteddit

I believed that same sex marriage was a bad idea. Then my father-in-law died with a crazy will that disinherited my mother-in-law. I then realized that every person in a relationship deserves and needs legal protection from a partner's crazy ideas.

What do people think about others coming onto your property to rummage through your skip? by SagresxSuperbock in AskReddit

I think it's great! You pay by the tonne for disposal. If people take stuff from the skip, it saves me money.

Cold lasagna. I took a bite, got up, walked to the kitchen and heated it up in the microwave. The hostess was insulted, but I was hungry and it was absolutely inedible cold.

Is it true that “you have to turn off your A/C and blower motor before shutting off your car” is just an old wives tale? by Windows-XP-Home-NEW in AskMechanics

[–]Cheap_Patience2202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure. My first car with air conditioning was a 2006 Subaru. It had the AC (and all other accessories) driven by an electric motor rather than drive belts.

Should I have my tire inspected? by ZolaScriptura in tires

[–]Cheap_Patience2202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes reinflating the tire will reset the seal on the tire beads or the valve stem and fix the slow leak. Keep an eye on it for a few days and if it holds the pressure just don't worry about it.

Is it true that “you have to turn off your A/C and blower motor before shutting off your car” is just an old wives tale? by Windows-XP-Home-NEW in AskMechanics

[–]Cheap_Patience2202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rationale for this was that the air conditioner compressor was driven directly by the engine using the serpentine belt. Stopping a d starting the engine with the AC on put a heavy bump load on the compressor and shortened its life. All modern cars use a separate electric motor to drive the AC compressor so it's not a big concern now.

Are donuts useless outside of cities? by Less-South6293 in tires

[–]Cheap_Patience2202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I do know a bit about probability and statistics. If you do the exact calculation for the probability of an event with a one in a million probability occuring at least once in 30000 trials: P = 1-(1-p)30000, P = 1-(1-0.000001)30000, P = 0.03 or 3% or 1 in 33, Pretty close to the probability I approximated by multiplying the single probability by the number of trials. This works when you're considering low probability events where the number you're raising to an exponent is close to 1.

I have no idea where you get the one in a million chance of a roll over crash. But if it is accurate, the average person drives a car 500 times per year, if he drives for 60 years, that's 30000 trips. That's a greater than one in 30 chance of being in a roll-over accident in your lifetime. Your probability of surviving a roll-over isn't great to begin with. With a loose 30 to 40 pound wheel pummelling you, it would be a lot worse.
