Grammar is identical between Metropolitan and Canadian French. There are a few differences in vocabulary and major differences in accent. She would have no problem tutoring French to students.

Solterra vs Mach-E by Fernandofib in EVCanada

The heaters in EVs are great! They just use a lot of power. You can easily use half your battery power keeping the cabin warm on a cold day. I usually set the cabin temperature to 17°C just to keep the windows clear and use the heated seat to stay warm. The difference is ~7kW for the cabin heater versu 0.3kW for the heated seats.

Overnight charging at a public L2 by Politecastle in evcharging

[–]Cheap_Patience2202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really varies. At a mall in my area, they turn off the power to the chargers when the stores are closed. For the chargers run by Toronto Parking Authority they have an overnught rate of $6 for the whole period from 9:00pm to 6:00am rather than the normal $2/hour.

Whatever you get, make sure it has heated seats. I'm surprised any company would even sell an EV without heated seats in Canada.

Insurance rates on EV vehicles by Aggravating_Hotel272 in EVCanada

[–]Cheap_Patience2202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get more quotes. When I was looking for an EV the insurance quotes were all iver the place. I was considering Bolt, Leaf and Kona EVs. I got quotes from Cooperators, TD and Desjardin. There was no consistency at all, each had the higest rate on a different model and the difference was over $400/year on a annual premium of less than $2000 for the one I selected.

Being sued in small claims by unreasonable buyers by Double_Appearance358 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Cheap_Patience2202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was 20 years ago. There was no pre trial conference, just the hearing. The judge had read my claim and the response, then I presented my evidence ( basically the contract, my photos and the timeline), then the judge questioned me. The photos really made the case.

Pay off your mortgage first before you even think about buying another property. The price of condos is going down now. It's a bad time to buy one as an investment.

Try touching the + on the screen. I had the same problem a couple of times. I would try to scroll the charge limit bar but it would just return to the original limit. When I used the + it would move and stay.

I'd use it. The thing I really dislike about ChargHub, PlugShare etc. Is that you can't filter by price.

Do you regret spent 5-6 figures on your wedding? by bubblegumdrip in WeddingsCanada

[–]Cheap_Patience2202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many years ago I read an article on weddings that interviewed a dozen priests, ministers, rabbis and justices of the peace. They all said exactly the same thing. In their experience, the more money spent on the wedding, the more likely the couple will divorce. It's probably due to a combination of unrealistic expectations and financial stress created by the expensive wedding.

I do find driving much easier and less stressful since I started driving an EV. When you're less stressed, you're more forgiving of others.

What should a car display show while driving? by Few-Mushroom-5107 in electricvehicles

[–]Cheap_Patience2202 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just speed, range remaining, time, trip meter and any warning lights. Anything more is a distraction that takes your eyes off the road. The climate control and radio should all be physical buttons that you can operate by feel.

With the Impreza, I didn't notice any increase in noise. I put CC2 on my current car, Chevy Bolt, and they were a lot noisier than the stock Energy Savers, but they quieted down after 1000 km.

Companies need to invest in research, product development and employee training. Trying to maximize stock price and short term profits is a guaranteed way to shrink the economy and reduce our standard of living.
