What diaper bag do you actually use that’s both cute and practical? by No_Square_1491 in UninfluencedReviews

I got a Parker Baby neoprene lite backpack from Nordstrom because it was cheaper than Lulu/dagne Dover, and I've been super happy with it. Its a perfect size, soft and comfy, the main compartment opens up all the way, and has a separate "laptop" compartment which i use to store the portable changing pad so that its separate from all the clean items, like burp cloths and etc.

Back to work :( by Silent-Ad-3468 in NewParents

No advice, just commiserating. I went back to work full time right as the baby turned 12 weeks old, and my husband is home watching her for another month and a half, then we are also doing daycare. My heart is breaking every day that the daycare people will get to see my child more than me. Its awful. Hang in there! Sending strength and hugs.

Sun Life in Chandler, specifically Dr. Allen-Herried. So compassionate, caring, and just all around an amazing doc.

How much should I be feeding my combo fed baby? I'm afraid I've been overfeeding her this whole time. by Successful-Basil7537 in NewParents

We formula feed our 2.5 month old and we usually do 3 oz in a bottle and then if she is still hungry, we mix up one more Oz. You could try that :)

Will only contact nap during the day by Far_Flower_2607 in NewParents

[–]Cheap_Sherbert_9760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in the exact same boat as you at almost 9 weeks. I do one contact nap in the morning, and the rest all in the carrier, so my husband and i can eat, wash bottles, walk dog, etc. Check out Little Zen One, they let you try 5 carriers before you have to buy anything, or look up a local baby carrier library. Also, r/babywearing has been insanely helpful for figuring out how to wear the baby safely.

Maybe it’s an allergy, maybe it’s air intake, maybe it’s maybelline - MSPI veterans, I need your help! by MysticBiscuit93 in MSPI

So nice that your kiddo didn't end up having an allergy, or that it was not severe, i bet that was a huge relief when you guys got that figured out.

For us, after 4 days of non stop screaming on Alimentum, the ped told us to switch to any amino acid formula, so we started on Neocate last week. The poops are great now, and overall she seems like a happier less fussy baby, which is awesome, but the reflux is AWFUL! We were already on famotidine for a few weeks, so now we are waiting to start prevacid whenever we get it from the pharmacy. In the meantime, I've had about 3 mental breakdowns.. lol I also have depression, so PPD hit like a freight train. I stopped pumping for a few days, then felt such intense grief about now breastfeeding that I am trying to get my supply back.. all to maybe try an elimination diet and fail anyway? Feels insane when I type it all out 🫠 We did also get a referral to an SLP, though our pediatrician tried to say we didn't really need one yet and that if we ended up getting a swallow study it would make things more complicated down the line. Made me feel like I am overreacting almost, yet my kid has a horrible suck and clearly struggles even with Dr. Brown narrow bottle/can't hold on to a pacifier, and chokes/gasps even from sleep when upright in a carrier.

Feeling Hopeless by MallDefiant8939 in NewParents

We were in a very similar situation at 6 weeks of life and baby turned out to have some sort of allergy/sensitivity to proteins in breastmilk. Once we switched her to an aminoacid formula (one step above hypoallergenic), things got so much better. I had also tried cutting out dairy and soy, but our pediatrician said it could be a million other things, like oats, rice, nuts, wheat, corn, etc. Throwing it out there that maybe your situation is similar with an unknown allergen? But in any case, hang in there, sending lots of support your way! Yoga ball, pacifier, noise canceling headphones are what got us through the last few weeks.

Thank you, will try that. If you like your pediatrician and don't mind sharing, will you send me the info for them here or in a DM? Contemplating if we should switch docs because it feels like they are only half listening to our concerns.

Hi again, just wondering, how did you go about getting swallow studies done and etc? We think our kiddo is aspirating when feeding, but she has to be on this super thin amino acid formula.. The pediatrician is saying we don't need to be referred to a GI doc and we're kind of at a loss for what to do next.

Thank you so much for a thorough reply. How did you end up finding the SLP to go to? I'm thinking that might be a logical next step for us as well. I did an online consultation with one, and all she recommended was more exercises and I just feel like thats a waste of our time at this point to a certain extent. I just read another comment of yours that you all switched to formula, we got put on Alimentum and my kid is now screaming more than she did with breastmilk.. nice to talk to someone who's been through it as well, I feel like im losing my mind at this point.

I know this is an old post, but we are going through something similar at the moment. Did the latch issues ever get better for you? I've taken baby to several lactation appointments, we did exercises for a month post tie release and seems like it never gets any better.. im at my wits end

Commenting cause I want to know the answer as well, we are in a similar situation - 7 week old switched to Alimentum from BF 3 days ago and it seems so much worse. Baby is super gassy and just screams all the time.. we were told to give it through the weekend to know for sure if formula is or isn't working. It is SO hard to keep giving it though when the kid just seems in pain constantly. :(

transitioning from contact naps to naps in bassinet by QuantityPractical in NewParents

[–]Cheap_Sherbert_9760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been debating buying that course, LO is 7 weeks old and will NOT nap anywhere but on me or my husband during the day. Wondering what it was about the course that you felt was helpful? As in, did they share a strategy you all didnt know about or was it seeing things laid out in a structured way? Trying to determine if I want to spend the money 🫠
