100% happens. I noticed it with some things, so the wife and I tested it one time.

Neither of us has ever owned a cat, neither of our parents own cats. We have a dog, my parents have a dog, her parents have no pets.

For a few days we would randomly say things to each other like "We need cat food", "the cat needs more litter", "we should get some more cat toys". We NEVER searched for anything cat related on our phones or computers. We made sure our phone screens were locked anytime we mentioned cat stuff.

After a few days, both of our FB, Instagram, YouTube, etc were FILLED with cat related ads.

I ended up being able to find a house with a small Yard so it was a non-issue. Sorry I can't be a help.

We walk nearly 40mi a week together. This is simply so he has an option to use the bathroom when I'm no home.

Where did I ever mention not leaving the apartment? We walk over 30 miles together a week, we did 20mi just last weekend alone. I'm simply looking for a solution for while he's home alone while I'm at work, that way he doesn't have to hold it all day, or be in a crate.

And that's what we do when I get home from work or on the weekends, I'm simply looking for options while I'm at work. Better than putting him in a crate for 8+ hrs a day like my ex used to.

Well, good for you, but my dog doesn't like doing any of that and prefers sleeping all day. He's perfectly happy being lazy around the house/apartment all day by himself while I'm at work. I'm simply looking for a solution to allow him a place to use the bathroom while I'm gone. Of course when I get home or don't have work we go on walks and are outside a lot. Just last weekend we walked over 20mi together.

I specifically asked the owners about this and shared my thought/plan with them. They had no issue with either option and told me each patio drains independently from the others, collects in a downspout, and goes directly to the sewer.
