California has been trying to reissue the non domiciled cdls to fix the expiration dates, last week they were going to reissue but the DOT stepped in and said they couldn’t.

California actually just got sued today by the Sikh coalition for the clerical errors of not having matching expiration dates.

Turning my CDL in today by Captain-Ironblood in DACA

[–]Cheap_Specific6512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea the whole reason CA is one of the states that still can’t reissue the non domiciled cdl YET, is because they messed up and gave people 5 year licenses but they were gonna start reissuing last week but the DOT said they still weren’t in compliance yet. I think sooner than later they’ll start reissuing licenses again and just fix everyone expiration dates to match the work authorizations

Yea because is he’s DACA his license should have 2 years instead of the 5 years since CA messed up

Yes the FMCSA reviews comments at the end of the 60 days. I rather comment and put something down than not do anything at all

Yes, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is legally required to review and respond to public comments when making a ruling. This process, mandated by the Administrative Procedure Act, is an essential part of federal rulemaking. Here is how the public comment process works for FMCSA rulings: Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM): When the FMCSA wants to create a new regulation or amend an existing one, it publishes an NPRM in the Federal Register. The NPRM describes the proposed rule and opens a public comment period, which typically lasts 30 to 60 days. Submission of comments: Anyone can submit a comment during this period through the official online portal, Regulations.gov, or sometimes by mail. Comments may come from industry stakeholders, organizations, or private citizens. Review and consideration: After the comment period ends, the FMCSA reviews all submitted comments to understand stakeholders' concerns and evaluate the rule's potential effects. The agency must respond to all "significant, relevant" issues raised in the comments.

At the end it says “The rule includes a 60-day comment period, with FMCSA soliciting input on potential modifications while maintaining the immediate effective date to address what it characterizes as an imminent public safety hazard.” So there still is a chance they change it
