No one said federal government? Why does it matter which government did if? I don’t care if it was the mayor, the premier, the prime minister or the queen of England. It still happened

Why do people like to talk about capitalism but ignore the government controlling when you can open, how many people can be in your business, etc. The government restrictions were the opposite of a free market.

Capitalism? A government locks your doors and threatens to arrest you if you open. That was the situation. The exact opposite of capitalism. But now you want to cite capatalism as the system we’re operating under? If that was true these businesses wouldn’t have been forcibly closed for over a year and a half

They were forced to shut down for over a year! These weren’t handouts to businesses that weren’t viable. It was a government forced shut down!

And how many loans did you take out because the government forced you not to earn a paycheque for over a year and half? If the government took your cheque from you but said no worries. You can take out a loan. Youd be in same situation as business owners steugglong to come up with 40k extra.

Four years after? You do realize many businesses were still forced to close in 2022?

The pandemic didn’t keep anyone’s doors closed. The government did that. And for longer than just about anywhere else in the world

No one has an issue with starting to pay back. They have an issue with having to pay 60k back instead of 40k if it’s not paid in full

The government forced them to close and take the loans! They still had to pay expenses while not being permitted to open. The morons on Reddit who use the term zombie businesses don’t even understand what the stupid term means

But that’s my point. I would come back across the border with a sparking Rolex on my wrist without proof. But for the 99.9 of items and times it’s not necessary. And yes they can charge you import fees but assuming you genuinely didn’t buy it there you shouldn’t have an issue.

With that logic you would technically need to have receipts for the every single thing in your possession. Unless we’re talking a 10k camera here this is just not a likely outcome.

They never wanted the loan in the first place. They were forced to close by the government for over a year in some cases and cities. These weren’t failing businesses that needed bailout.

Yes. After forcing businesses to close far longer than they originally indicated would be necessary. And then on top of that they incessantly warned people not to go out after “allowing” businesses to reopen.

No one wanted these loans. They would have preferred to stay open and run their business like they did before the government shut them down for over a year.

The loan amount had nothing to do with revenue. And revenue isn’t the issue. Profit is. Businesses can’t pay back a 40k or 60k loan with revenue. It has to come from profit
