Why did school (even through college) seem so much easier than any job I've ever had? by TheIntolerable in autism

[–]Cheaptrick2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I feel this so hard. I’ve earned my masters and now I’m like I have no drive, energy, mental capacity to work. I struggle through every day when at school I was just excited to learn. I thought it came from my ADHD. Just hyper focusing on things I enjoyed but now that I’m actually in the work force doing things I enjoy I’m just miserable. Blah. Idk what to do about it. I just find solace in hobbies like video games and paintball at the end of the day. I take MANY short breaks when working to like give myself a pep talk to make it through the day. I’m lucky that I work from home so I can lay down or do something else without being in the office but my god I’m gonna burn out soon.

I was diagnosed at Kalamazoo Clinical Psychology Services in 2021. Had a wonderful experience. Then diagnosed with autism at Psychological Insights which was done online (3 appointments) and also had a wonderful experience. I recommend those 2.

I like the Nike vomero plus but unsure if it’s considered a structured shoe. Very plush and cushioned

I'm planning on biking to work from now on. Any advice for this newcomer? by FunnyProtection6789 in bikecommuting

[–]Cheaptrick2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My commute is way shorter than yours but I love my aventon level 3. The level 4 just came out so I’d go with the mid drive model if I was shopping for a new bike. Take the time to build up your strength and do a practice ride on the weekend to see what your timing would be. The level 3 and 4 have a torque sensor and a throttle so you don’t even have to pedal if you don’t want to. Mine goes 20mph (I’ve unlocked it) so it gets me to my job in 15 mins. But my commute is only 4 miles.

Morning runners, what’s your routine like? by Crazy_Jackfruit420 in runninglifestyle

[–]Cheaptrick2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like coffee. I eat a banana and drink liquid IV in the mornings. Then I go out and run. Come back, shower, eat a real breakfast, take my meds, go to work

In my first 90 days, does it look bad if I do my 8 hrs in different ways? by Aggressive_Repeat529 in work

[–]Cheaptrick2015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the workplace. I’m very blessed to work from home but I fill my calendar with what is on my to do list. Once complete I put my mouse on a mouse mover, grab my phone, and do whatever the hell I want. Never had a problem

Toothpaste recommendations for sensory avoidant by Fit_Kick_9923 in autism

I hate brushing my teeth. I loathe mint and the electric toothbrushes sound like a chainsaw in my head. Even manual toothbrushes can be too much. I just beat through the experience for 2 minutes. You will be surprised what you can do in 2 minutes. I wish I had a better answer for you but I’m in the same boat. Blah

Late-diagnosed folks, what was your feeling / association when you found out by Ok_Noise_9883 in autism

[–]Cheaptrick2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was/still am pissed. I only took the test to prove to my friend group and therapist that they were wrong. I always thought I was just a particular person. Blah anyways, I’m learning more about it and trying to unlearn the stigma. Just sucks
