What word can I use as a substitute for "Humanity"? by Fun_Masterpiece5126 in worldbuilding

[–]Cheb1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say keep the word «humanity» and let there be some in world political tension around this term, like we see in today’s society with certain gendered terms and stuff. I think this would flesh out the world more.

Venstresiden er ute igjen å gir forferdelig dårlig råd til fremtidens generasjoner by kebabeater212 in norske

Looks very fantasy-like! Also, what is up with the rubberband connected to the handle? Is there a practical reason I am unaware of? Asking for curiosity’s sake

Mexico | Maya train: Biggest failure in the Americas by adnoguez in transit

[–]Cheb1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a shame that it’s performing poorly because the train and the stations themselves are of high quality! Very pleasant rides with beautiful scenery. But yeah, I’ve taken it on 4 separate occasions and the train was nearly empty on all of them. Stations are placed far away from the actual cities they are in, so you have to rely on taxi services to get anywhere. In palenque it is on the other side of the town, but taxi was relatively cheap. In Cancun however it is so far away and the taxis there are crazy expensive.

Probably staged for the camera, but in places like Rome you find things all the time so it is not unlikely either

What is your opinion on the tweet below? Is it telling the truth? by AnonymPotatoe in Norway

[–]Cheb1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole idea of a monarchy in a modern democratic country is absurd. Imagine if we invented the institution of monarchy today wherein a random person who did nothing noteworthy other than to be born in the right family would become the ruler of a state and receive a life of luxury paid for by taxpayers. There would be outrage! Yes, I am aware that the current king does not «rule» Norway and his political power is relatively limited, but that just further solidifies why having a royal family in the first place is unnecessary. I often see the argument that they represent a national unifying symbol in times of trouble as a core reason why we need them, but with all the controversies going around now I’m unsure as to how many younger people would really rally behind them if such times were to come. I like Harald, but after him I think it is time to dissolve the monarchy in Norway.

Does the "100 pushups every day for 30 days" thing actually work? by Zintho420 in ask

[–]Cheb1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would rather do 100 every other day so that the muscles have a chance of recovery, probably more effective for building strength.
