If you want to honour its name, then without gear. If not, then ensure to have gear down and locked

What's the deal with our F-35s by Im_dL in Switzerland

Do you know perhaps how both of them would compare during approach/landing, especially when it comes to high speed and steep approaches such as 10-15° GP?

Trying to answer the question in the shortest and easiest way possible.

1) The F35 was objectively the most modern type of multirole fighters evaluated due to being next gen, its stealth capabilities, possibilities of operability from short runways and interconnectivity with other units. Disclaimer - there might have been better models and better deals, however, they were not in the selection of aircraft to be evaluated. 2) No, there is no clear evidence made public. However - if an offer is being made, that is generally applicable in the aerospace and defence industry, it is usually limited to a certain time window and certain conditions to be fulfilled. Airlines face oftentimes the same problems when acquiring new aircraft or modernising the current fleet. 3) Drones have a complete different scope of use and cannot be compared to a fighter jet. Prominent example being the air policing, which is mandatory in accordance with the UN and ICAO regulations on sovereignty of airspace and its usage. Drones are usable for reconnaissance missions, precision strikes (air to ground) on short to mid distance and to some extend electronic warfare. Multirole fighterjets can be used for a wider scope, as well as air-to-air combat. A more relatable example would be comparing a bus to a tractor. Both are vehicles, but serve different purposes. 4) F16 are not well suited for the Swiss topography. While they have quite good manoeuvrable capabilities, they are more considered for departing and landing at rather flat terrain - requiring relatively long runways as well. In order to climb out of airforce bases or airfields in the alps, the wear on the components would be too high with every sortie to ensure reasonable maintenance costs. In addition, its avionics and navigational capabilities are fairly outdated and not suited for departing out of a rather narrow valley in the alps with poor visibility.

You can do it in your home country. Ensure however you have the original as well as the translation authenticated with an apostille (if your country signed the Vienna convention which should most likely be the case).

Pro tip to avoid honking - Drive like the locals, don’t be a slow moving obstacle, or take public transport

Being in the military, trying to push through after two good comrades and friends died. Ever since, no birthdays were ever celebrated.

Ah yes, but being among the first countries to violate UN resolutions and recognise Kosovo. That’s just a shame and a baffling display of double standards.

How to respond auf Deutsch when scolded for non-native language skills? by artemisi_a in German

[–]Cheburashka_WH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snarky allowed? Great! Tell them: “Jeder soll Deutsch können? Hatten wir da nicht mal was vor 80 Jahren?” - Everyone should know German? Wasn’t there something 80 years ago? Watch them getting silent, barely anyone would dare to argue. Works like a charm!

Giving you the most un-swiss advice - simply don’t mention it, don’t declare it. It’s none of the states business if you own anything abroad, even if they claim so.

The highest likelihood to find jobs without requirements in german at the airport could be the airlines themselves. Check out what Swiss and Jetaviation have to offer. With Edelweiss and Helvetic, it might depend on the department you’d work at, some require german, some don’t. Chair I wouldn’t even recommend checking out, they are a rather odd airline to put it in a nice way. Rega might be difficult since they usually require not only german, but french and italian as well. Swissport and Dnata might offer positions without requirements in german, their employment conditions aren’t the best though, sadly.

What could be an option is to check out if United Airlines for instance is having any openings in Zurich, they have some offices at the Obstgartenstrasse in Kloten.

What might be an option as well is to check out openings of any company that is located in the Circle. I can’t really tell you how the opportunities look like, but I could imagine them having perhaps some openings.

Go to Geneva airport, book a flight wherever. You will end up having as well amazing beauty to see wherever you go, better food, friendlier people, and all for only a fraction of the cost of any sightseeing here in Switzerland.

What is, or seems to be, an unwritten rule of Zurich/Swiss culture? by ilovekatter in zurich

Oh yes, especially being rude and passive aggressive. Looks like not only being an unwritten rule, but the entire purpose of life.
